Sr Staff Software Engineer- Access Security

The Access Security team is building the intelligence layer for the ServiceNow Veza Identity solution, helping enterprises answer one of the most important security questions: who and what can access critical resources? We turn complex identity and access data into clear, actionable insights so customers can uncover risky access, prioritize remediation, and reduce exposure before issues become incidents.
We are looking for a seasoned Staff Backend Engineer to architect, design, develop, optimize, and maintain Access Security features that use AI to improve access intelligence, risk detection, and remediation workflows. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build secure, scalable backend services and AI-assisted workflows that can operate reliably in enterprise environments. This role requires expertise in Go and Python, practical AI integration experience, and leadership in architecting high-performance services.
What you’ll do:
Partner with product, design, and engineering leaders to craft solutions that balance innovation, performance, and business impact.
Champion the responsible use of LLM frameworks, AI agents, and AI-driven access intelligence to deliver enterprise-ready capabilities for identity and access use cases.
Explore emerging technologies and patterns in identity and access management that help us deliver greater customer value while improving solution resilience, scalability, and performance.
Participate in all technical aspects of team deliverables, including architecture, design, quality, performance, maintainability, and code reviews.
Integrate automated testing into development workflows to ensure consistent quality across releases.
Mentor and guide other engineers by sharing engineering practices, raising quality standards, and fostering continuous improvement in testing, reliability, and production readiness.
Own end-to-end feature delivery, steering capabilities from early design and architecture to release, operational oversight, and ongoing stability.
Applied AI experience: Practical experience integrating AI, ML, or LLM capabilities into production workflows, such as decision support, risk analysis, automation, or security-focused access intelligence.
Experience: 10+ years in backend software development, with deep technical hands-on experience building complex Enterprise production software.
Languages & Architecture: Strong proficiency in Golang and other key programming languages (e.g., Python or Java), with a strong architectural vision.
Data and APIs: Expertise designing and implementing RESTful, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs, with strong proficiency in data modeling, SQL, relational databases such as PostgreSQL, and graph technologies such as Neo4j.
Systems Engineering: Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance optimization.
Leadership: Proven track record of leading major, cross-functional technical projects from conception to launch.
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Soft Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Domain Expertise: Prior experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM), IGA, and PAM solutions.
Cloud & DevOps: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Artificial Intelligence: Hands-on familiarity building with cutting-edge LLM frameworks and provider libraries like OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google.
Quality & Testing: Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
Mindset: Strong sense of ownership and customer focus, with a passion for user experience and staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $171,900 - $300,800, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs. Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located and is subject to change based on work location.
