Bloomily helps preschools, childcare centers, camps, and afterschool programs manage enrollment, attendance, billing, and communication. A school can run its preschool, aftercare, and camp with shared family records. Directors, staff, and parents use our web and mobile apps.
We’re looking for a practical engineer who enjoys understanding a customer’s problem and making the solution work. You’ll work directly with our founder and commercial teammate, with room to take ownership and help shape the product.

The work
Your initial focus is our web product, backend, and technical implementations.
- Help programs get started. Improve roster imports, data mapping, setup tools, and integrations.
- Build useful product improvements. Investigate customer friction, propose a manageable change, and carry it through implementation and verification.
- Make important journeys reliable. Reproduce bugs, add meaningful tests, and check that enrollment, attendance, and billing flows work as intended.
- Reduce repeated work. Turn recurring setup and support tasks into reusable tools or automations.
- Follow through. Explain what changed, document what matters, and check the result after release.
For example, a school may need to bring families from several spreadsheets into preschool and aftercare. You’ll work with our customer lead to understand the records, build a reliable import, and make the next setup easier.
The founder will work with you on priorities and review sensitive technical decisions. We’ll provide context, access, and clear initial assignments as you learn the product.
What you bring
- Experience shipping and maintaining software used by other people.
- Working proficiency in TypeScript, React, SQL, and using APIs.
- The ability to investigate unfamiliar code, debug problems, and verify your own work.
- Practical experience with AI coding tools, including checking their assumptions and output.
- Good judgment about customer data and payments.
- Clear communication and the ability to make progress without a detailed specification.
You might come from product engineering, software implementation, an agency building business applications, or a technical customer-facing role with substantial coding. Relevant independent work counts.
Next.js, Postgres/Supabase, integrations, and automated testing are useful. Experience with childcare, education, scheduling, or billing software is a bonus. A particular degree, childcare background, or mobile-development experience is not required.
Pay, benefits, and working together
- $40–$60/hour, paid hourly as a nonexempt employee, with applicable overtime.
- Starting pay reflects work location, relevant experience and demonstrated capability.
- Stock options included in the compensation package.
- Monthly health stipend, paid sick leave, and a retirement savings plan.
- Laptop and company-provided development and AI tools.
- Regular feedback, with compensation and responsibility reviews at six and twelve months.
Work remotely in the US, with at least five hours of overlap with 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Pacific time.
