Role Overview
We are looking for an accomplished Technical Program Management leader who has personally led large-scale, complex technology transformation programmes for Tier-1 banks, preferably across Corporate Banking and Transaction Banking.
The individual should bring a strong combination of technology depth, program leadership, banking domain understanding and executive stakeholder management, with the ability to orchestrate large, multi-year transformation programmes across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Infrastructure and customer technology teams.
Role Purpose
Own the end-to-end technical program management of strategic banking transformation programmes, ensuring alignment across architecture, engineering, product, integration, migration and implementation.
The role requires the ability to engage confidently with CIOs, CTOs, technology heads and senior business stakeholders, while maintaining strong control over technical execution, dependencies, risks, quality and program predictability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Enterprise Technical Program Leadership
Lead complex, multi-year technology transformation programmes across multiple products, platforms, workstreams, geographies and engineering teams.
Own the integrated program roadmap covering solution design, architecture, engineering, integration, data migration, testing, deployment, go-live and stabilization.
Drive alignment across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Infrastructure, Security and customer technology teams.
2. Corporate & Transaction Banking Technology
Bring strong technology and implementation experience across multiple areas such as:
Corporate Digital Banking
Payments
Cash Management
Liquidity Management
Virtual Accounts
Corporate Deposits
Trade Finance
Corporate Lending
Understand the underlying technology landscape, including core banking integrations, payment rails, APIs, data flows, middleware, security and surrounding banking systems.
3. Architecture & Engineering Oversight
Provide strong technical oversight across solution architecture, APIs, microservices, cloud, integration, data architecture, security, resilience, scalability and performance.
Challenge architecture and engineering decisions where required and ensure that solutions are scalable, maintainable and aligned with enterprise technology standards.
Work closely with Product and Engineering leaders to manage product configuration versus customisation.
4. Program Governance & Execution
Establish rigorous governance across multiple technical workstreams and ensure clear ownership of milestones, dependencies and deliverables.
Identify technical and program risks early and drive timely resolution across teams.
Manage critical dependencies across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, DevOps, Testing and customer teams.
Create strong visibility into program health, critical paths, technical risks and decision points.
5. Delivery Predictability & Engineering Quality
Drive predictable execution through measurable milestones, engineering metrics, testing discipline and controlled releases.
Ensure strong practices across:
Engineering quality
Automated testing
Performance engineering
Security
DevSecOps
Release management
Production readiness
Observability and monitoring
Conduct deep analysis of program or technology failures and drive corrective and preventive actions.
6. Executive Technology Stakeholder Management
Build strong relationships with CIOs, CTOs, technology heads, enterprise architects and senior business stakeholders.
Lead technology governance forums and executive steering committees.
Translate complex technical issues into clear business implications, options and decisions for senior stakeholders.
Build customer confidence through transparency, technical credibility and predictable execution.
7. Cross-Functional Leadership
Lead large, distributed teams across Technical Program Management, Architecture, Engineering, Integration, DevOps, Testing and Implementation.
Drive alignment across teams that may not directly report into the role.
Build strong second-line leadership and establish clear accountability across internal teams, customer teams and technology partners.
8. Technology Transformation & Modernization
Drive modernisation programmes involving legacy transformation, cloud adoption, microservices, API-led architecture, platform engineering and DevSecOps.
Balance transformation objectives with the operational realities of large Tier-1 banking environments, including resilience, regulatory requirements, security and business continuity.
9. AI-Native Engineering & Program Management
Drive adoption of AI-enabled engineering and program management practices across the technology lifecycle.
Apply AI capabilities to areas such as:
Software development
Testing and automation
Code quality
Technical documentation
Change-impact analysis
Risk identification
Program tracking
Production issue analysis
Translate AI adoption into measurable improvements in engineering productivity, quality, speed and program predictability.
Ideal Profile
23+ years of technology/program leadership experience, with significant exposure to banking and financial services.
Proven experience leading large, complex, multi-year technology transformation programmes.
Strong exposure to Corporate Banking and/or Transaction Banking.
Experience managing programs involving multiple products, platforms and engineering teams.
Strong understanding of modern architecture, APIs, microservices, cloud, integration, DevSecOps, data and security.
Experience engaging directly with Tier-1 bank CIO/CTO organizations and senior business leadership.
Demonstrated ability to influence large cross-functional organizations without relying solely on direct reporting authority.
Strong track record of managing complex dependencies, technology risks and critical transformation programmes.
Ability to operate effectively at both executive and technical levels.
