Field Service Engineer

Introduction to the job
Field Service Engineer (FSE) is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting advanced laser systems at customer sites. Working closely with customers and internal engineering teams, you will play a key role in maximizing system performance and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Role and responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair semiconductor laser systems at customer sites.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities according to established procedures.
Troubleshoot system issues and identify root causes to minimize equipment downtime.
Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and system qualifications.
Maintain accurate service records and technical reports.
Provide technical support and training to customers when required.
Collaborate with engineering, logistics, and technical support teams to resolve complex issues.
Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
Participate in on-call support and occasional business travel as required.
Education and experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
Experience in semiconductor equipment, industrial equipment, laser systems, or field service is preferred.
Experience in troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, optical, or software-related systems is desirable.
Recent graduates with strong technical backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.

Ability to read and understand technical documentation and schematics.
Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and computer systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Business-level Japanese and basic English communication skills preferred.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Location: Utsunomiya, Tochigi, Japan (or actual work location)
Travel requirement: Approximately 25%
Driver's license required

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.
