We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Terminals Team, a collaborative group of around 30 software developers and testers responsible for the software that powers our mission-critical radio solutions. Our products are trusted by emergency services, utilities, and enterprise organisations around the world, helping people stay connected when communication matters most.
This role is ideal for an experienced embedded software engineer with a passion for wireless technologies, particularly Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and a desire to solve complex technical challenges. You’ll play a key role in the development and enhancement of the connectivity platform that underpins our next generation of mobile and portable radio products.
Working across all levels of our embedded firmware, with a platform-centric focus, you'll contribute to the delivery and maintenance of robust, secure, and high-performing wireless solutions. From Bluetooth and Wi-Fi integration through to development of value-add features, you'll have a direct impact on products relied upon in some of the most demanding environments.
You'll join a highly experienced team that values collaboration, technical excellence, and developing innovative solutions that keep critical communications connected.
Key Responsibilities include:
Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for mobile and portable radio products.
Develop and support Bluetooth and Wi-Fi solutions, including integration, performance optimisation and feature enhancements.
Contribute to the design and evolution of platform software, connectivity frameworks, and core firmware components.
Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system and connectivity issues across the software stack.
Support the integration of wireless technologies, audio systems, and peripheral interfaces.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features and product enhancements.
Drive continuous improvement in software quality, development practices, and technical processes.
Contribute to the future direction of wireless connectivity capabilities within our products.

Ō pūkenga - About You
You'll be an experienced embedded software engineer who enjoys solving technical problems and developing high-quality products. You bring a strong foundation in embedded development, coupled with hands-on experience in wireless communication technologies and a passion for building reliable, real-world solutions.
You will bring:
Proven experience developing embedded firmware for commercial products.
Strong programming skills in C/C++
Experience developing software for embedded and real-time operating systems.
Hands on experience with Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi Technologies, including protocol integration, connectivity troubleshooting, and performance optimisation.
A solid understanding of wireless communication principles, network concepts and embedded system architecture.
Strong debugging, problem-solving and software design skills.
Experience working across multiple layers of a software architecture, from platform-level code through to application functionality.
The ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in an agile development environment.
Exposure to radio communications systems, device drivers, or hardware-near software development would be an advantage.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
