Job Description:
Role Purpose:
The Head of Revenue Assurance is responsible for leading the organization's global revenue recognition and billing function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant recording of revenue and invoicing across all geographies and business units. The role serves as the custodian of revenue accounting policies, commercial contract interpretation, billing governance, and compliance with Ind AS 115 / IFRS 15 requirements.
The incumbent will drive operational excellence across Order-to-Cash processes, partner closely with Delivery, Sales, Commercial, Legal, Project Finance, and Regional Finance teams, and provide technical accounting guidance on complex revenue arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue Recognition & Assurance:
Own and manage end-to-end revenue recognition for the organization across all global entities and business units.
Ensure accurate and timely monthly revenue recognition in compliance with Ind AS 115 / IFRS 15 and company policies.
Review and validate revenue treatment for complex client contracts and commercial arrangements.
Drive consistency and governance in revenue accounting across regions.
Ensure completeness, accuracy, and audit readiness of revenue-related financial records and reconciliations.
Establish robust controls to mitigate revenue leakage and financial reporting risks.
Global Billing Operations:
Lead global customer billing operations across all regions.
Ensure timely and accurate invoice generation and dispatch in accordance with contractual terms.
Oversee billing governance, billing exceptions, dispute resolution, and collections support.
Monitor billing cycle adherence and identify opportunities for process automation and optimization.
Drive reduction in unbilled revenue and billing backlog.
Commercial Model Expertise:
Provide leadership and guidance on revenue recognition and billing (Interpret contract clauses and determine appropriate accounting and billing treatment) for:
Time & Material (T&M) contracts
Fixed Price contracts
Milestone-based contracts
Fixed Capacity contracts
Volume-based contracts
Managed Services arrangements
Multi-element and hybrid commercial structures
Technical Accounting & Policy Governance:
Act as the organization's subject matter expert on Ind AS 115 / IFRS 15.
Assess accounting implications of new business models, contract modifications, change orders, rebates, credits, volume discounts, and performance obligations.
Partner with Corporate Finance, Audit, and Statutory Reporting teams on technical accounting matters.
Draft and maintain revenue recognition policies, accounting position papers, and governance frameworks.
Support external and internal audits related to revenue accounting.
Stakeholder Management:
Partner with Delivery, Sales, Commercial Operations, Legal, PMO, and Regional Finance teams to ensure accurate contract setup and revenue realization.
Provide guidance during contract reviews and deal structuring to ensure accounting compliance.
Present revenue performance, risks, and assurance metrics to senior leadership.
Controls, Compliance & Transformation:
Build a best-in-class Revenue Assurance function within Financial Shared Services.
Strengthen Internal Financial Controls related to revenue and billing.
Drive automation and digital transformation initiatives in Oracle Fusion.
Establish KPIs, dashboards, and governance mechanisms for revenue and billing performance.
Lead process improvement and standardization initiatives globally.
Qualifications:
Education
Chartered Accountant (Mandatory)
Additional certification in IFRS or Revenue Accounting will be added advantage
Experience:
15+ years of progressive experience in Revenue Accounting, Revenue Assurance, Billing, Financial Controllership, or Shared Services leadership roles.
Significant experience in the IT/ITeS industry.
Experience managing global revenue operations across multiple geographies.
Hands-on expertise in complex customer contracts and commercial models.
Technical Knowledge:
Expert knowledge of Ind AS 115 / IFRS 15.
Strong understanding of:
T&M Revenue Recognition
Fixed Price / Percentage of Completion Accounting
Milestone-based Billing & Revenue
Contract Modifications
Deferred Revenue
Accrued Revenue
Unbilled Revenue
Foreign Currency Impacts
Experience with ERP platforms such as Oracle Fusion or equivalent.
