Base Salary $132,533 - $157,381 + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The School of Geosciences is seeking a Research Fellow - Coastal Geomorphology to join a newly established research position. This role will contribute to a major research project focused on coastal wetland sedimentology, advancing understanding of sediment processes, landscape evolution and environmental change in coastal systems.
Working under broad direction, you will undertake high-quality independent and collaborative research, contribute to publications and research outputs, and participate in field-based investigations across coastal environments. The position offers an outstanding opportunity to build a strong research profile while collaborating with leading academics and external partners.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
undertake research in coastal wetland sedimentology and related geomorphological processes
conduct fieldwork, sample collection and data analysis across coastal environments
publish high-quality research outputs in leading scholarly journals
contribute to conference presentations, seminars and research dissemination activities
support the development of competitive research funding applications
develop productive collaborations with academic, industry and government partners
contribute to the supervision and mentoring of higher degree research students where appropriate
maintain excellence in research quality, safety and project delivery
contribute to a positive and inclusive research culture within the School.
About you
PhD in coastal geomorphology, sedimentology, Earth science, environmental science or a closely related discipline
demonstrated experience conducting original research and developing a research profile in a relevant field
expertise in coastal wetland processes, sediment dynamics and/or geomorphological research
proven experience undertaking field-based research in coastal environments
strong publication record relative to career stage
excellent quantitative, analytical and scientific communication skills
ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary research teams
developing network of academic, industry and professional stakeholders
