About the Team and the Role:
The Indirect Sourcing team at Ather is responsible for managing capital expenditure (Capex), operational expenditure (Opex), and logistics sourcing that powers our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. The team plays a pivotal role in optimizing costs, securing premium partnerships, and ensuring seamless operational readiness to support our rapid scaling.
This role is for a Supplier Manager - Factory, Capex and Logistics who will take complete ownership of managing critical indirect procurement categories, driving supplier performance, and spearheading key sourcing strategies at our Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (AURIC) manufacturing plant. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and headquarters to ensure robust supply chain support, cost optimization, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Design and execute comprehensive supplier management and engagement initiatives aligned with organization objectives.
Ensure smooth and efficient supply chain operations for indirect categories (CAPEX, OPEX, and Consumables) at the factory, in line with supply chain policies.
Collaborate with headquarters and cross-functional teams for strategic sourcing, supplier performance reviews, and project implementation.
Manage and mentor a team of supply chain professionals at the factory, driving a collaborative and performance-oriented environment.
Review and negotiate technical and commercial documents, contracts, agreements, and NDAs related to factory requirements.
Conduct regular supplier business reviews (including Quarterly Business Reviews) and co-create action-oriented development plans.
Segment suppliers by strategic importance to design customized engagement and performance improvement programs.
Proactively identify supply chain risks, establish robust mitigation plans, and manage key program parameters: cost, quality, and timelines.
Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering OR an MBA in Supply Chain Management from a recognized institution.
7 to 10 years of functional experience in handling indirect procurement, specifically managing CAPEX, OPEX, and consumables.
Prior experience in automotive, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing industries is preferred.
Strong expertise in zero-based costing, value chain mapping, and commercial negotiations (including contract structures and INCOTERMS).
Must have Competencies:
Strategic Sourcing & RFQ Management: Proven capability in crafting robust Request for Proposal (RFP/RFQ) packages, mapping supplier landscapes, performing technical-commercial alignments, and executing structured commercial negotiations using first-principle costing.
Supplier Performance Management: Expertise in designing supplier engagement programs, conducting formal performance reviews (QBRs), and building supplier capability to ensure alignment with organizational quality, cost, and timeline goals.
Indirect Category & Contract Management: High proficiency in managing complex indirect spend categories (Capex, Opex, and consumables) along with the drafting, reviewing, and negotiation of legally binding commercial agreements, contracts, and NDAs.
Project & Risk Management: Ability to lead cross-functional sourcing projects, monitoring key program milestones, anticipating supply chain risks early, and executing robust mitigation plans to maintain operational continuity.
Good to have Competencies:
Supply Chain Digitalization & Systems: Hands-on experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms (such as SAP or Oracle) and business intelligence tools to perform spend analysis and drive data-backed decision-making.
Value Chain Mapping & Zero-Based Costing: Demonstrated skill in analyzing complex manufacturing processes or service delivery models to perform zero-based costing and identify margin optimization opportunities.
Logistics & INCOTERMS Expertise: Sound understanding of international and domestic logistics frameworks, transportation modes, and regulatory compliance requirements for moving large capital equipment.
Cross-functional Orchestration: Ability to influence, persuade, and align diverse internal stakeholders (Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Plant Operations) to drive unified supply chain strategies.
