Citrix Engineer

Citrix Engineering and Administration: performing engineering and day-to-day Citrix Administration tasks for Citrix solutions including: Citrix CVAD, Citrix Provisioning Services, Citrix Workspace Environment Management. The following tasks are to be performed:
Citrix server deployment: installing, configuring, patching, upgrading Citrix infrastructure systems, delivery servers and Citrix databases.
Citrix administration in Virtualized environments: Citrix CVAD, PVS and WEM administration in virtual environments, e.g. VMWare, and virtual machine administration of operating systems underlying Citrix solutions.
Security management: Enforce data security and data protection policies by managing security and solution access, identifying and auditing user access of sensitive solutions in compliance with procedures and regulations.
Incident management: follow structured processes for rapidly detecting, diagnosing, and resolving service disruptions to restore availability and ensure data integrity. Manage incidents using ITSM tools, e.g. ServiceNow
Change and Release management: follow controlled processes for planning and validation for deploying releases of new Citrix systems or changes to existing Citrix solutions into (pre-)production environments, minimizing downtime and preventing data loss.
Health monitoring: defining, gathering, managing metrics for monitoring Citrix solutions, operating systems and servers to ensure systems remain healthy; checking error logs, system events, database events, disk space and storage events use monitoring tools including SCOM to identify, prevent and resolve issues.
Citrix Solution maintenance: installing, configuring, scheduling, monitoring Citrix infrastructure.
Backup and recovery: define, create, schedule Citrix solution backup plans and strategy, ensure restorability, integrate Operating System-level backup systems like NetBackup, manage Data Retention.
Performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization: define and gather critical performance metrics for Citrix and OS to ensure correct solution performance.
Business Continuity: ensure to meet SLAs by configuring High Availability & Disaster Recovery, defining, implementing, configuring, monitoring technologies including SCOM and Citrix Infra Monitoring.
DevOps: define, create, implement DevOps pipelines for deploying Citrix configuration changes into production using Puppet, AzureDevops, FlyWay.
Automation: define, implement, schedule, monitor scripts for automation of repetitive, recurring tasks using Bash, Puppet, Python, Powershell, etc.
Data modelling: design, reverse engineer, document conceptual Citrix solutions and models, defining and updating standard operating procedures.
Change management: implement Citrix solution Changes and Releases into production and other environments, in compliance with standards and procedures.
Coordination: Coordinate and/or participate with multiple teams to coordinate activities from Development, Architecture, Applications, Security, Networks, and Service Management in case of troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Communication: communicate opposing views to stakeholders and facilitate compromise solutions, display and enable teamwork.
Training and Knowledge Transfer: Provide technical training or knowledge transfer to internal teams, ensuring smooth handovers and self-sufficiency in routine tasks.
Assigned ticket handling: Promptly address incident and change tickets assigned through the ITSM tool, ensuring they are handled immediately upon assignment. This includes following up, prioritizing tasks, and resolving them within the established timeframes and according to SLAs.

Bachelor's degree plus 9 years of relevant professional experience
Working knowledge of English: B2.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in creating Technical Designs (including High Level as well as Detailed level), leading to actual implementation (including processing power, network segmentation, security principle of least access, monitoring characteristics, backup and restore, etc.), with focus on Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS) and application delivery solutions also covering proven experience in presenting and defending the solution created to stakeholders of various profiles (business, technical, management).
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Citrix environments.
Proven track record of configuring and optimizing Citrix components (Delivery Controllers, StoreFront, Director, Citrix Gateway).
Proven track record monitoring and analytics tools (Citrix Director).
Proven track record of securing Citrix environments using best practices and assessing current infrastructure in order to identify optimization opportunities.
Proven track record of implementing CVAD / PVS deployments or upgrades.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the installation, implementation and configuration of Server Operating Systems (MS Windows and/or Linux) in physical or virtual format, including the interaction with Infrastructure at large (File shares with CIFS/SMB and NFS, secure LDAP integration, Public Key Certificates, Service accounts, API’s, etc.).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in adapting Infrastructure Designs, applying/devising Security hardening for each layer of the solution (hardware/devices, Operating System, Applications/middleware), including leveraging well known frameworks (e.g., CIS guidelines), including the troubleshooting needed due to the consequences of hardening.
Minimum of 3 years of experience with documenting technical specifications of solutions, in terms of infrastructure design material (deployment views, server and network specifications, etc.) as well as devising and documenting operational procedures.
Good knowledge of implementing new CVAD / PVS deployments or upgrades.
Knowledge of integrating PVS with hypervisors (VMware vSphere).
Good knowledge of managing delivery controllers, StoreFront, Director and
Integrating Citrix with identity providers.
Good knowledge of securing Citrix environments using best practices and assessing current infrastructure in order to identify optimization opportunities.
Good knowledge in creating Technical Designs (both at a High Level and at a Detailed level) leading to actual implementation.
Good knowledge of installation, implementation and configuration of Server Operating Systems (MS Windows and/or Linux) in physical or virtual format, including the interaction with Infrastructure at large (File shares with CIFS/SMB and NFS, secure LDAP integration, Public Key Certificates, Service accounts, API’s, etc.).
Good knowledge of implementing (applying/devising) Security hardening for hardware/devices, Operating Systems, Applications/middleware, including leveraging well-known frameworks (e.g., CIS guidelines), including the troubleshooting needed due to the consequences of hardening.
Desirable:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in negotiation on technical level with different stake holders (e.g., ICT Security, Governance, Data Protection, ICT Operations/Solution teams, Project Management, etc.) and incorporating the results on the design deliverables.
Good knowledge in configuration of application servers to make usage of the different authentication systems, encryption in traffic, file access and database access. Ability to troubleshoot all of the mentioned components individually and as a set.
