Role Overview
Hiscox is expanding its use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform to enhance business agility and operational efficiency across global units.
This role sits within the Group Platform Engineering team and is pivotal in delivering scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions using low/no code approaches, with a focus on Dynamics 365 and/or Power Apps Model Driven solutions.
You will work closely with solution architects, in-house teams, third party partners, and business stakeholders to help design, configure, deliver, and support robust solutions aligned to architectural principles, policies, and guidelines.

You are ready to act as a “go to” engineer for a functional area or product slice—without formal line management—supporting juniors through collaboration and coaching.
Key Responsibilities
1) Solution Delivery (D365 / Model Driven Focus)
• Design, develop, and deploy solutions using Power Platform, including work that supports Dynamics 365 and/or Power Apps (Model Driven) delivery.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliverables, ensuring solutions are pragmatic and maximise technology benefits.
• Collaborate with the Technical Lead and solution architects to ensure solutions align with architectural principles, policies, guidelines, and the Microsoft upgrade roadmap.
• Ensure alignment with design standards, reusable components, DevOps pipelines, and lifecycle management practices.
• Collaborate with internal teams and Microsoft partners to ensure high-quality implementations.
2) Requirements & Stakeholder Collaboration
• Work with business and technology stakeholders to elicit and refine requirements, shaping them into clear solution outcomes.
• Communicate effectively across technical and non technical audiences to drive shared understanding and delivery progress.
3) Platform & Lifecycle Practices (ALM / Environments / Operability)
• Contribute to application lifecycle management practices, with familiarity across waterfall and agile delivery approaches.
• Support ongoing improvement of platform usage and performance, helping ensure optimal configuration and scalability.
• Provide ongoing support and further development for deployed solutions.
4) Data Model, Non Functional Requirements & Quality
• Ensure extensions to Dataverse and the Common Data Model are introduced consistently with industry best practice.
• Ensure non functional requirements are identified and addressed, including secure configuration, access controls, appropriate environment sizing, monitoring metrics, and an effective support model.
5) Security, Compliance & Governance
• Implement and maintain governance policies such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and access controls, supporting compliance and security standards.
• Participate in regular reviews with partners and internal teams to ensure compliance and security standards are met.
• Support the development and enforcement of governance models, standards, and policies, contributing to continuous improvement and maturity.
6) Team Enablement & Knowledge Sharing
• Promote best practices and continuous improvement through knowledge sharing and mentoring in day to day work.
• Support community enablement efforts (e.g., contributing to how to guides, design standards, training content) where appropriate.
Essential Skills & Experience
• Demonstrated experience defining, designing, developing, testing, and deploying D365 and Power Platform applications and solutions (functional specialist or developer background).
• Strong knowledge of Dynamics 365 CE and/or Power Platform, with understanding of appropriate use cases (e.g., Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio).
• Understanding of Azure cloud technology and the Azure security model.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non technical stakeholders.
• Self motivated with evidence of staying current on technologies, trends, best practices, and security considerations.
• Collaborative mindset, including experience working with others and contributing to team skill development.
Desirable Skills
• Microsoft certifications at intermediate/advanced level (e.g., Power Platform Functional Specialist Associate, App Maker Associate, Solution Architect Expert).
• Experience extending Power Platform using C#, JavaScript, etc.
