Location: The Orange Box Young People’s Centre, Halifax (co-located services therefore driving licence essential)
Working Hours: 37 hours per week - the working pattern is flexible Monday to Friday 9am-5pm but can included some evenings
Contract Type: 12 month Fixed Term Contract
Salary: £25,877.80 - £34,240.03 per annum

About the role:
We are currently looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic Children and Young Peoples Wellbeing and Resilience Worker to join the Branching Out Team in Calderdale. We provide specialist drug and alcohol treatment and support for young people aged 10 – 21 years and their families. You must enjoy working with Young People, be able to work flexibly, understand the challenges they face and be able to deliver interventions and activities that empower and enable them to build resilience to substance use.
This role is specifically to work with Young People who are affected by someone else’s drug and / or alcohol use and to deliver ‘Hidden Harm’ interventions working in close partnership across the wider Drug and Alcohol Service and with other partners. The aim is to improve their emotional wellbeing, support understanding of their parents/ carers drug/ alcohol use and minimise the risk of intergenerational drug/ alcohol use.
Key duties will include:
The post holder will work with children and young people who are assessed to need support as a result of drug and alcohol use within the family
The post holder will work to improve their emotional wellbeing, support understanding of their parent’s/carers drug/alcohol use and minimise the risk of intergenerational drug/alcohol use.
The post holder will use a variety of interventions to achieve this including one to one work, group work and other activities. Supporting YP’s to access facilities in their own communities to build resilience, e.g. sports centres, youth clubs etc
The post holder will work closely with colleagues across the wider Drug and Alcohol Service and external partners to identify Children and Young People in need of this support
About you:
Knowledge and experience of working within Safeguarding and Hidden Harm and improving the emotional wellbeing of Children and Young People.
Knowledge of harm reduction approaches in relation to drug and alcohol use for children and Young People .
Experience of working with families impacted by drug and alcohol use.
E xperience in carrying out assessments, care planning and risk management plans.
Experience delivering 1-2-1 and group work interventions – including brief interventions – MI, PSI etc with Children and Young people.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programmes.
Driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for the role.
