General Summary:
We are looking for a Wireless Connectivity Test Engineer to drive validation and quality assurance of Qualcomm's next-generation IoT connectivity platforms based on QCC740/QCR373 tri-radio SoCs (Wi-Fi 6 / BT/BLE / IEEE 802.15.4). The engineer will work closely with software developers, system architects, and cross-functional teams to ensure the quality, reliability, performance, and interoperability of Zephyr-based embedded software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Execute functional, performance, interoperability, and protocol validation for wireless connectivity technologies including:
* Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax)
* Bluetooth/BLE 5.x
* IEEE 802.15.4 (OpenThread)
* Develop comprehensive test plans, test strategies, and test cases for new software features, BSP components, peripheral drivers, security features, and wireless subsystems.
* Design, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks and test scripts using Python and test automation tools.
* Perform white-box testing activities, including:
* Code review participation
* Log and trace analysis
* Root-cause investigation
* Validate Zephyr RTOS-based software components, including:
* BSP and peripheral drivers
* Wireless protocol stacks
* Network stack features
* Security mechanisms
* Execute system-level validation of security features
* Analyze and reproduce customer-reported issues and collaborate with software development teams to identify root causes and verify fixes.
* Perform debugging and issue triage for pre-silicon and post-silicon software releases.
* Develop and maintain test environments, testbeds, and lab infrastructure for wireless and embedded system validation.
* Generate validation reports, quality metrics, and release readiness assessments.
* Collaborate closely with WLAN, BTSS FW, OpenThread, Security, BSP, HAL, and platform teams to improve overall software quality.
Required Skills & Experience
* 2+ years of hands-on software testing, validation, debugging, or system integration experience in embedded or wireless products.
* Strong understanding of embedded software development and debugging methodologies.
* Good knowledge of:
* Zephyr RTOS, FreeRTOS, or similar RTOS
* Linux development environment
* Embedded system architecture
* Experience in wireless connectivity testing, with strong knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
* Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax)
* Bluetooth/BLE
* IEEE 802.15.4 / Thread / Zigbee
* Familiarity with networking protocols such as:
* TCP/IP / DHCP / DNS/ UDP/TCP Socket APIs
* Experience developing automation scripts using Python.
* Strong problem-solving, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills.
* Ability to analyze logs, traces, protocol captures, and software execution behavior.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across global teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
Wireless Connectivity
* Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) feature validation
* WPA Supplicant and security testing
* Bluetooth/BLE qualification or interoperability testing
* OpenThread or Zigbee certification testing
Embedded Software
* Zephyr testing frameworks (Ztest) and CI/CD validation
* BSP and peripheral driver validation:
* UART/SPI/I2C/USB/SDIO/DMA/Flash
* Security Validation
Automation
* Automated regression testing
* Continuous Integration pipelines
* Test framework development
Open Source
* Familiarity with Zephyr upstream workflows
* Experience using AI-assisted development/testing tools to improve productivity is a plus.
Education & Experience
Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, plus 5+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred:
* Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, plus 2+ years of relevant experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
