Role Description The Switchgear Testing Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Thane. This role involves planning and executing tests on low- and medium-voltage switchgear to verify performance, safety, and compliance with relevant standards. The engineer will prepare detailed test plans and test cases, set up test equipment, conduct functional and routine tests, and document test results accurately. Responsibilities include analyzing test data, identifying defects or deviations, coordinating with design and production teams to resolve issues, and supporting continuous improvement of testing procedures. The Switchgear Testing Engineer will also assist in root-cause analysis, maintain testing tools and instrumentation, and ensure all activities meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Ability to perform Test Engineering activities, including planning, setup, and reporting for switchgear products.
Experience in Test Execution and managing Test Cases across different operating conditions and configurations.
Strong foundation in Testing methodologies with hands-on exposure to Functional Testing of electrical equipment.
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Knowledge of relevant IEC/IEEE standards for switchgear and electrical safety.
Proficiency in using electrical testing instruments (e.g., multimeters, insulation testers, relay test kits).
Attention to detail, structured documentation skills, and ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional engineering and production teams.
Experience in a manufacturing or testing environment for power distribution equipment is an advantage.
Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to company quality procedures.
