Overview of the Role
The Senior Editorial Planner leads Hayu’s day-to-day editorial planning and platform merchandising, ensuring content is curated, scheduled and surfaced to support discovery, engagement and retention across Direct-to-Consumer and partner platforms.
Core Responsibilities
Platform Programming & Merchandising
Support Head of Content Strategy in executing and evolving Hayu’s merchandising strategy
Using Hayu’s in-house CMS, own the day-to-day curation, scheduling and maintenance of Hayu DTC and partner platforms across multiple audience segments, territories and devices.
Create and ideate editorially sharp merchandising rails and collections that improve content discovery, support retention and encourage deeper viewing through Hayu’s distinct tone of voice and brand.
Maintain and manage the editorial planner, providing a forward view of launches, campaigns, themed collections, and key platform moments.
Working closely with in-house creative teams brief and manage delivery of on-platform imagery, trailers and extras.
Create, maintain and distribute monthly programming calendars for internal and external stakeholders.
Support programming and operational needs including troubleshooting, coordinating materials, maintaining trackers and posting updates.
Manage and coordinate regional and market specific requirements; including Hayu France translations and Hayu New Zealand general entertainment merchandising.
Working with Data Engineering, lead on the evolution of Hayu’s merchandising insights to further steer strategy and audience needs.
Create and distribute monthly merchandising reports highlighting core metric performance.
Campaign Delivery & Audience Engagement
Working closely with Head of Content Strategy implement engaging pre-roll strategies to drive deep content consumption.
Own and lead relationship between content merchandising, and Media Planning, collaborating on monthly pre-roll briefs, coming soon initiatives, trailers and extras.
Work with Marketing and Customer Relationship Management to support cross-promotional activity.
Use performance insight to optimize campaigns, improve discovery and inform future merchandising decisions.
Product & Platform Development
Working with Head of Content Strategy, represent and champion editorial and audience needs in product roadmap conversations, identifying practical opportunities to improve personalization, efficiency and performance measurement.
Act as the day-to-day lead between Content, Product (including external product vendors) and data engineering teams, facilitating fixes, improvements and delivery of platform enhancements.
Identify and drive efficiencies within Hayu’s CMS to drive further automation opportunities.
Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Act as a key editorial merchandising contact for Content, Marketing, Product, CRM, Data, Operations, Commercial and external platform partners.
Communicate programming priorities, campaign plans and platform requirements clearly across teams and partners.
Support off-platform merchandising across key partner platforms, including NOW TV, YouTube and Amazon.
Other Responsibilities
Act as a content champion within the business.
Help identify content acquisition opportunities.
Present and attend QBR’s both for internal and external stakeholders.
Support Hayu Hub & digital content pipelines.
Work closely with Social Media and digital acquisition teams to identify key content priorities for support and collaboration.
Support content and merchandising queries and tasks across the business.
Basic Requirements
Prior experience in programming, editorial, merchandising or marketing within the media industry, with SVOD or linear experience preferred.
Experience working across multiple markets is desirable but not essential.
A strong interest in reality TV, entertainment, pop culture and the wider zeitgeist is essential.
Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Highly organised, proactive and confident working across multiple teams, departments and stakeholders.
A clear and confident communicator who can turn editorial, commercial and audience priorities into actionable platform plans.
