Leader, Hardware Engineering

Enables the engineering team to improve and optimize the engineering processes and infrastructure to deliver a great experience to the engineering organization for building products. Directs the activities of a hardware development function, including research and technical design for electronic parts, circuitry, and mechanical systems. What You’ll Do:
Leads team(s) of hardware engineers (typically team of teams)
Identifies and participates or leads problem solving for multiple products
May contribute to technology and product roadmap
Creates and maintains relevant hardware architecture and prototyping standards
Provides feedback and insight into standards and practices while identifying areas for improvement in the architecture and design process
Leverages breadth and depth of knowledge to make recommendations to products and mandate process improvements, with a focus on operational efficiency
Leads large and/or complex projects from requirements to execution to completion
Manages product, solution and/or system level trade-offs and design decisions; updates team(s) priorities as appropriate
Leads discussions with customers to explain solutions, gather feedback, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure feedback is reflected in design decisions and deployment
Seeks alternate sourcing options
Provides input on key business and organization health indicators to enable decision making
Develops action plans for optimal resource utilization and management of financial/material resource usage, including supporting Cisco net zero standards
Advises on business performance impacts of key variables for assigned products Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors + 15 years of related experience, or Masters + 12 years of related experience, or PhD + 8 years of related experience Also requires 4+ years of supervisory experience. Job Requirements
Ability to lead and inspire a team of talented senior and junior hardware engineers
Having deep knowledge of product development life cycle of complex hardware systems.
Hands-on experience in hardware system designs for switches, high performance/high bandwidth routers. Depth knowledge in digital /analog circuit-based hardware designs,, Multi-core/Network processor based designs, PCIe, Memory Technologies, PCB Layout design, High-Speed SERDES technologies (112G). Understanding of system solutions involving Mechanical/Thermal consideration, Signal Integrity, EMI/EMC, Safety consideration and compliance tests.
Requires excellent problem solving, analytical skills and an ability to work well in a cross-functional team. Ability to develop and monitor project schedules and timelines to identify and meet critical milestones. Ability to jump-start projects through hands-on design while building a team
Experience in dealing with customers and partners on technical and non-technical issues
