Electrical Design Engineer (Industrial Schematics & Panels)

About the Role
We are a fast-paced startup based in Hyderabad looking for a detailed-oriented and technically adaptable Electrical Design Engineer.
We are not looking for a standard CAD operator. We need a "Builder"—someone who can take ownership of our electrical design infrastructure. Your primary focus will be creating professional industrial schematics and control panel designs, but you will also be responsible for setting up the libraries, templates, and automation workflows from scratch.
Key Responsibilities
1. Industrial Schematic Design
Create comprehensive electrical schematics for control panels, power distribution, and automation systems using EPLAN, Solid Works Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar industrial tools.
Develop Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Power & Control circuit diagrams, and Termination/Interconnection diagrams.
Design General Arrangement (GA) drawings for control panels, ensuring proper component spacing, thermal management, and cable routing.
2. Infrastructure & Workflow Development (The "Builder" Aspect)
Library Management: Build and maintain the company’s master parts database. You will create and standardize symbols, macros, and part data (article management) to speed up future designs.
Automation: specific focus on automating outputs. You should be eager to set up scripts or standard configurations to auto-generate Wire Lists, Cable Schedules, and BOMs directly from the schematic software.
Standardization: Establish the startup’s drafting standards, layer management rules, and naming conventions to ensure consistency across all projects.
3. Component Selection & Engineering
Size and select industrial electrical components (MCBs, Contactors, PLCs, VFDs, Transformers, Terminal Blocks) based on load calculations and project requirements.
Coordinate with vendors (Siemens, Schneider, Phoenix Contact, etc.) and local suppliers to source components efficiently.
Qualifications
Education: B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical Engineering (EEE).
Experience: 3 to 6 years of experience in industrial electrical design and detailing.
Technical Skills:
Software Proficiency: Deep expertise in EPLAN (Electric P8), ZWCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks Electrical. Note: We are open to candidates proficient in any major tool, provided they can adapt to our chosen stack.
Standards: Familiarity with IEC standards (IEC 60204, IEC 61439) for control panel design and safety.
Automation Mindset: Experience (or strong interest) in using API scripts, Excel macros, or EPLAN EEC/API to automate repetitive drafting tasks.
Process Architect: You don't just draw lines; you build the system that makes drawing lines faster. You enjoy creating templates that save time for the whole team.
Tech Explorer: You are open to exploring new competitive CAD tools (like ZWCAD) to reduce costs without sacrificing quality.
Hands-on: You are willing to visit the shop floor or assembly area to verify that your panel designs are practical and easy to wire.
