HGV Class 1 Driver

Are you an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver, or newly qualified and ready to begin your driving career? We are recruiting dependable drivers to join our team in Portsmouth. Experience is welcome but not essential—we are happy to invest in drivers who have the right attitude, are willing to learn and are committed to completing the required training.
In your role as a HGV Class 1 Driver, you will be operating refrigerated articulated vehicles, delivering and collecting chilled stock from Local and Regional Distribution Centres as well as Farms and Packhouses across the UK.
Shift patterns available
Friday to Tuesday Days
Due to the nature of the products being delivered, our drivers will have 3 hour start windows to ensure they are flexible depending on volume
Pay rates
You’ll be paid for the hours you work, with a minimum payment of 10 hours per shift. Enhanced rates apply for night hours, Saturdays and Sundays, and overtime is paid after 10 hours.
Monday to Friday 04:00 - 20:00 - £16.91 per hour
Monday to Friday 20:00 - 04:00 - £20.29 per hour
Saturday 04:00 - 20:00 - £19.45 per hour
Saturday 20:00 - 04:00 - £21.14 per hour
Sunday and Bank Holiday 04:00 - 20:00 - £20.29 per hour
Sunday and Bank Holiday 20:00 - 04: 00 - £21.98 per hour
What you'll be doing:
Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork
Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety and hygiene
Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department
Effectively manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks
Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery
Achieve and succeed fuel efficiency targets set by the business
Any other duties as reasonably required
Possession of HGV Class 1 Licence
Current CPC
Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours.
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
Effectively prioritise workload in order to meet set deadline
