About the Opportunity
HummingBird is hiring a Java Developer on behalf of its client, a leading organization in the Software Development industry, based in Bengaluru.
The Java Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable software applications and backend services. The role will involve working closely with product managers, architects, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other developers to deliver high-quality technology solutions.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Java development, Spring-based frameworks, REST APIs, databases, and modern software development practices.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development
Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based applications.
Translate business and technical requirements into reliable software solutions.
Develop clean, maintainable, reusable, and efficient code.
Participate in the complete software development lifecycle from requirements through deployment.
Troubleshoot and resolve application issues and production defects.
Java & Backend Development
Develop enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and related frameworks.
Build scalable and secure backend services and RESTful APIs.
Implement business logic and reusable application components.
Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
Follow established coding standards, design patterns, and development best practices.
API & Microservices Development
Design and develop RESTful web services and APIs.
Develop and maintain microservices-based applications where applicable.
Implement API security, authentication, authorization, and error handling.
Integrate applications with internal and external systems.
Monitor and optimize API performance and reliability.
Database Management
Design and optimize database queries and data access layers.
Work with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
Develop stored procedures, queries, and database integrations where required.
Analyze database performance and support optimization initiatives.
Ensure data consistency and integrity across applications.
Testing & Quality
Write unit and integration tests to ensure application quality.
Collaborate with QA teams to identify and resolve defects.
Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
Troubleshoot application issues across development, testing, and production environments.
Support continuous improvement of development and testing processes.
DevOps & Deployment
Collaborate with DevOps teams on application builds, deployments, and releases.
Work with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
Support applications deployed on cloud environments.
Troubleshoot deployment and environment-related issues.
Contribute to application monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.
Collaboration & Agile Development
Work closely with product managers, business analysts, architects, QA engineers, and other developers.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
Provide technical inputs during solution design and estimation.
Document technical solutions, APIs, and development processes.
Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
4–8 years of professional experience in Java development.
Strong hands-on experience with Core Java and Java/J2EE technologies.
Strong experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework.
Experience developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
Good understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
