Automation Engineer (Control-z)

Description
We are seeking a skilled Workload Automation Engineer / Control-M Administrator to support and maintain enterprise scheduling and workload automation environments. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing automated job workflows, ensuring reliable batch processing, meeting critical service level agreements (SLAs), and supporting business-critical applications across a complex multi-platform infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with BMC Control-M, enterprise scheduling environments, workflow design, application onboarding, and production support. This individual will play a key role in maintaining operational stability and improving automation efficiency across Windows, Linux, Unix, Mainframe, and Cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Design, create, and maintain Control-M job definitions, workflows, folders, and scheduling calendars.
Onboard new applications and integrate workloads into the enterprise scheduling environment.
Configure and manage job dependencies, file watchers, event-driven scheduling, and automated workflow processes.
Monitor workload execution and proactively manage SLA-driven processes to ensure timely completion of critical business operations.
Configure and maintain alerting, notifications, and escalation procedures for production workloads.
Troubleshoot job failures, scheduling issues, and production incidents while coordinating resolution efforts with application and infrastructure teams.
Develop and optimize workflow structures to improve operational efficiency and reliability.
Support cross-platform workload automation across Windows, Linux, Unix, Mainframe, and Cloud-based environments.
Collaborate with application owners, developers, and infrastructure teams to implement scheduling requirements and process improvements.
Perform system maintenance, environment upgrades, and scheduling best-practice implementation.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience administering and supporting BMC Control-M in an enterprise environment.
Experience with enterprise batch scheduling, workload automation, and job orchestration.
Strong understanding of job scheduling concepts, dependency management, and calendar-based processing.
Experience configuring file watchers, event-driven workflows, and automated alerting.
Knowledge of SLA management, workload monitoring, and operational support practices.
Experience supporting production environments and resolving critical incidents.

The successful candidate will be capable of independently managing application onboarding, workflow design, SLA monitoring, and production support activities.

This is a Contract position based out of Pittsburgh, PA.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
