Superintendent – Mechanical Construction (Data Center)

About the Role
Kelso Southwest is seeking a Mechanical Superintendent to lead field execution on a data center project in Tulsa. This person will plan and coordinate mechanical work, lead crews and subcontractors, and maintain high standards for safety, quality, schedule, and documentation.
Data center construction demands careful sequencing and reliable installation. The Superintendent will work closely with the project manager, general contractor, other trades, and commissioning teams to deliver mechanical systems that are ready for testing and turnover.
Responsibilities
Lead daily field operations for the project’s mechanical scope, which may include HVAC equipment, piping, hydronic systems, and associated infrastructure.
Plan labor, materials, equipment, access, and work areas to keep installation on schedule.
Coordinate mechanical work with electrical, controls, fire protection, structural, and other trades, especially in congested spaces.
Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and coordinated models; raise conflicts and constructability concerns before they disrupt field work.
Establish and maintain installation quality standards, including equipment placement, piping installation, supports, labeling, and access for maintenance.
Monitor inspections, pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, and other required checks. Ensure deficiencies are documented and corrected.
Protect installed equipment and maintain the cleanliness standards required throughout data center construction.
Coordinate with the project team on startup, functional testing, commissioning, punch lists, and turnover documentation.
Track progress against project milestones, identify schedule risks early, and communicate recovery plans.
Lead jobsite safety efforts, including pretask planning, crew communication, and prompt correction of hazards.
Maintain accurate daily reports and clear communication with the project manager and site leadership.
Qualifications
Experience leading mechanical construction on large commercial, industrial, or mission critical projects.
Strong knowledge of HVAC equipment and mechanical piping installation.
Experience coordinating work across multiple trades and managing crews in an active construction environment.
Ability to read drawings and specifications, use coordinated models, and plan work around project milestones.
Familiarity with mechanical testing, startup, commissioning, and system turnover.
Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
A consistent commitment to safety and installation quality.
Preferred: Previous data center experience, including work on critical cooling infrastructure and participation in commissioning and turnover.
