Data Science | Computer Science internship: Measurement analysis framework

Introduction
The Applied Data Science team develops reliable artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions for ASML products and services. We work closely with domain experts to turn engineering knowledge into data-driven solutions that improve system performance, diagnostics, and maintenance. In this internship, you will contribute to the first phase of an innovative measurement analysis framework that helps translate measurement-related questions into structured and reproducible analysis workflows. Your work will support the development of scalable analytical solutions that can be expanded into future intelligent decision-support systems. Your assignment
As a internship student, you will help develop a prototype framework that guides users from measurement-related questions to structured and validated analysis workflows. You will focus on creating a modular system backbone that supports data intake, analysis planning, validation, and reproducible reporting. The framework should be scalable and designed for future extensions, including advanced modeling capabilities and intelligent user interaction. Your main responsibilities will be:
Define a structured analysis specification for measurement studies
Develop a prototype for data intake and data structure inspection
Build workflow selection mechanisms based on analysis objectives
Implement validation checks to assess data quality and analysis suitability
Create reproducible reporting and workflow archiving functionalities
Demonstrate the framework using representative measurement-analysis cases
Collaborate with domain experts to translate analytical requirements into practical solutions
This is a bachelor/master internship for minimum 6 months, minimum 5 days per week (3 days on-site). The start date of this internship is as of February 2027, but an earlier start date is also possible.
Your profile
To be suitable for the internship, you:
Are pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Data Science, Applied Statistics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
Have experience with Python programming and developing structured software solutions
Have knowledge of data analysis, statistics, and machine learning concepts
Are analytical and comfortable working with complex structured datasets
Are proactive and able to communicate technical findings clearly
Have experience with version control tools such as Git and reproducible development practices
This internship is ideal if you enjoy building practical analytical systems, combining software engineering with data science, and creating solutions that can be used by engineering teams. Other requirements you need to meet:
You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship, and you are at least 18 years old at the start of the internship;
If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement);
You attach your cover letter with a clear motivation on why you are interested in this internship assignment in particular;
You need to be located in the Netherlands to be perform your internship. In case you are currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your application shows the willingness to relocate.
