Position Summary
The Workers' Compensation Specialist plays a key role in supporting MSIG USA's Workers' Compensation product and regulatory compliance initiatives. This position is responsible for coordinating the implementation of bureau changes, preparing and managing regulatory filings, monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure MSIG USA's Workers' Compensation products remain compliant, competitive, and operationally efficient.
The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of Workers' Compensation insurance, NCCI and independent bureau requirements, state filing regulations, and insurance product management processes. This role serves as a critical liaison between Product Development, Underwriting, Actuarial, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and external filing partners.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Filings & Compliance
Prepare, submit, and track Workers' Compensation rate, rule, form, and loss cost filings through SERFF and applicable state filing systems.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external filing partners to ensure timely and accurate filing submissions.
Draft responses to regulatory objections and information requests from state insurance departments.
Monitor filing statuses and maintain documentation supporting regulatory approvals and implementation activities.
Ensure regulatory compliance with state-specific Workers' Compensation requirements across all jurisdictions where MSIG USA writes business.
Bureau Product Management
Monitor NCCI circulars, state bulletins, and independent bureau updates for impacts to MSIG USA products.
Coordinate the review and implementation of bureau loss cost, rating, rule, and form changes.
Partner with Actuarial to support loss cost multiplier filings, rate changes, and related regulatory submissions.
Maintain tracking tools and implementation schedules to ensure bureau changes are adopted within required timeframes.
Assist in evaluating regulatory and competitive impacts of bureau updates and market changes.
Product Development & System Implementation
Support the development and maintenance of Workers' Compensation products, forms, endorsements, and rules.
Collaborate with Product Development and IT teams to draft and validate business requirements for policy administration system enhancements.
Participate in product launches, state expansions, and system implementation initiatives.
Assist with testing and validation activities related to product changes and regulatory updates.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as a subject matter resource for Workers' Compensation regulatory and filing requirements.
Partner with Underwriting, Actuarial, Compliance, Legal, Claims, and Operations teams to support business objectives and ensure regulatory compliance.
Provide regular updates on filing activity, approval status, bureau changes, and implementation timelines.
Support internal and external audits by maintaining organized and audit-ready filing documentation.
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve filing processes, reporting capabilities, and workflow efficiencies.
Maintain filing procedures, templates, and documentation standards.
Support the use and enhancement of filing management tools and technology platforms.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance accuracy, productivity, and regulatory responsiveness.
Qualifications
Required
5-7 years of experience in Commercial Workers’ Compensation, Product Development, Regulatory Compliance, or State Filings
Working knowledge of NCCI manuals, bureau processes, Workers' Compensation rating structures, and state regulatory requirements.
Experience using SERFF and state insurance department filing systems.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working with regulatory filings, bureau adoption projects, or insurance product development initiatives.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience supporting multi-state commercial lines insurance products.
Familiarity with policy administration systems, filing management platforms, and insurance product implementation processes.
Continuous improvement mindset and adaptability to regulatory change.
