Director- SW Software Portfolio Excellence

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a Director, Software Portfolio Excellence that will be a key leadership role within the Software Line of Business, responsible for driving the operating discipline, cross-functional alignment, and business execution required to translate Software portfolio strategy into measurable business outcomes.
This leader serves as the connective tissue across the Software portfolio and the functions required for its success. The role establishes an integrated operating view of portfolio priorities, commitments, risks, dependencies, investments, commercial readiness, and business performance, and drives accountability across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Professional Services, SaaS/Operations, Finance, Legal, Procurement, and other stakeholders.
This is not a software delivery program-management role. Engineering remains accountable for engineering execution, quality, schedule, and delivery. Product leaders remain accountable for product and portfolio strategy and commercial outcomes, and functional leaders remain accountable for execution within their organizations. The Director, Software Portfolio Excellence creates and runs the operating system that connects those accountabilities, identifies where momentum is slowing, drives resolution of blockers, and escalates the highest-priority issues with clear recommendations.
Responsibilities:
Software Portfolio Governance & Prioritization
Establish and operate an integrated management system across the Software portfolio, including Commerce, Security Suite, AI/Agentic, Payments/Legacy, Marketplace and other portfolio priorities.
Translate portfolio strategy into explicit priorities, decisions, commitments, owners, milestones, dependencies, and measurable outcomes.
Maintain transparency across competing priorities and ensure organizational attention and resources remain aligned to the highest-value business outcomes.
Cross-Functional Business Execution
Drive alignment and accountability across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Professional Services, SaaS/Operations, Finance, Legal, Procurement, and other functions.
Identify where portfolio momentum is slowing, determine the underlying blocker and accountable owner, drive actions to closure, and escalate when required.
Ensure functional commitments are explicit and visible without assuming ownership for execution that belongs within those functions.
Business & Financial Performance
Establish an integrated view of portfolio performance including revenue, ARR/SaaS, pipeline, margin/GP, investment, adoption, releases, and other key business metrics.
Partner with Finance and functional owners to identify variances, risks, investment or utilization concerns, and required corrective actions.
Connect execution progress to commercial and financial outcomes and drive follow-through on portfolio-level actions.
Release & Commercialization Readiness
Drive cross-functional readiness for major launches and releases across product, engineering, sales, marketing, technical enablement, services, operations, customer communications, legal/procurement, and partner dependencies.
Ensure launch plans are substantive, owned, measurable, and started early enough to support successful commercialization.
Surface readiness gaps and dependencies early and drive accountable functions to resolution.
Executive Operating Cadence & Decision Support
Lead portfolio reviews, KPI scorecards, strategic initiative reviews, risk/dependency reviews, and action closure.
Synthesize complex portfolio information into concise executive insights, decisions, recommendations, and escalations.
Filter portfolio noise and elevate the few issues that materially threaten business outcomes or require executive intervention.
Strategic Portfolio Initiatives & Continuous Improvement –
Lead strategic and tactical initiatives that cut across products or functions and do not naturally sit within one organization. Continuously improve portfolio governance, operating processes, decision rights, metrics, and accountability mechanisms.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated leadership of complex, cross-functional business initiatives where success depends on influencing teams outside the direct reporting line.
Strong business and financial acumen, including experience with revenue, ARR/SaaS metrics, pipeline, margin/GP, investment, budgets, forecasts, and business cases.
Proven ability to create operating cadence, governance, KPI scorecards, executive reviews, decision forums, and action-management disciplines.
Strong judgment and executive presence; able to distinguish critical portfolio issues from noise and bring forward concise, grounded recommendations.
Ability to challenge senior functional leaders constructively, drive accountability, and maintain momentum without taking over their functional responsibilities.
Strong understanding of software product lifecycle, engineering/delivery, commercialization, sales, marketing, services, and SaaS operations.
Ability to connect strategy, execution, financial performance, and customer/commercial outcomes across a broad portfolio.
Exceptional analytical, written, presentation, and communication skills; able to synthesize complex information into clear decisions and actions.
High ownership, urgency, persistence, and comfort operating in ambiguity and across organizational boundaries.
Preferred:
MBA or equivalent business leadership experience.
Experience in enterprise software, SaaS, retail technology, or complex global product businesses.
