Job Summary
Lead and motivate a Team of developers in the planning, delivery, and operation of highly reliable software. Accountable for the technical quality of the software that the Development Team produces and closely collaborates with the Business and other Stakeholders to ensure software meets functional and non-functional expectations. Act as an interface between the Development Team and Leadership, ensuring capacity and skillsets are aligned to meet ongoing delivery expectations. Time is allocated across Project Leadership, Technical Leadership/Mentoring, and Software Development/System Engineering.
As a Tech Lead Software Engineer – MarTech / Content Supply Chain, you will provide hands-on technical leadership for the CMS, Adobe, cloud, integration, and DevOps capabilities that support Southwest’s enterprise Content Supply Chain. You will help design scalable platforms and reusable engineering patterns across CMS/DAM, Adobe AEM, Workfront, Workfront Fusion, AWS, APIs, middleware, and enterprise integrations. This role combines strong engineering depth with technical leadership. You will remain close to architecture and implementation decisions while raising the bar for code quality, automation, platform reliability, and engineering productivity across distributed US and India teams.
Responsibilities
Provide accurate development estimates in support of feasibility assessments and planned development activities
Create, maintain, review and approve application designs in collaboration with Solution Architects and shared services Teams, ensuring alignment to the appropriate solution architectures and taking tradeoffs into account
Develop, maintain, and review software with a focus on quality and maintainability
Develop, maintain, review, and execute unit, functional, and integration tests with a focus on automation and test-driven development
Provide technical oversight for performance testing, ensuring plan and outcomes align to expected non-functional requirements
Plan and oversee application deployment activities and sequencing in non-production and production environments
Investigate new technologies that could improve the applications and development activities
Identify and resolve technical debt as appropriate, weighing the development effort against the value returned
Mentor and coach Development Team on relevant architecture, design, development, and operations topics
Evaluate code to ensure that it is valid, is properly structured, meets industry standards, and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating systems

Lead the technical design and delivery of scalable CMS, cloud, integration, and DevOps capabilities supporting the enterprise Content Supply Chain.
Provide hands-on technical direction across Adobe AEM, Adobe Workfront, Workfront Fusion, CMS/DAM platforms, AWS services, and connected enterprise applications.·
Design and evolve API-first and event-driven solutions using REST/GraphQL APIs, microservices, webhooks, messaging, middleware, and MuleSoft integrations.·
Drive full-stack CMS and content engineering solutions across headful and headless experiences, with strong focus on Adobe platform capabilities.·
Build and maintain production-grade Python services, automation scripts, integration components, and supporting tooling where appropriate.·
Establish and improve CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, observability, security, performance, resiliency, and operational standards for cloud and content platforms.·
Lead design reviews, code-quality practices, engineering standards, reusable architecture patterns, and technical decision-making across delivery teams.·
Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, QA, Adobe platform teams, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.·
Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, and raise engineering maturity through design reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing.·
Support distributed US and India engineering teams and coordinate technical dependencies across product, platform, and delivery pods.·
Evaluate emerging technologies and AI-assisted engineering practices that can improve developer productivity, automation, scalability, reliability, and customer value.·
Drive production reliability through actionable monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, incident response, and continuous improvement.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong hands-on CMS and Adobe ecosystem knowledge, particularly Adobe AEM, Adobe Workfront, and Workfront Fusion.·
Strong AWS cloud engineering knowledge across secure, scalable, resilient, and observable cloud-native services.·
Strong integration expertise across REST/GraphQL APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, webhooks, middleware, and MuleSoft.·
Strong Python development and automation capability, including scripting, integration utilities, or production services.·
Strong DevOps knowledge across Git, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, deployment automation, observability, and production support.·
Strong understanding of API-first architecture, distributed systems, messaging, asynchronous workflows, and enterprise integrations.·
Ability to work across headful/headless CMS, DAM, content workflows, and downstream digital experience platforms.·
Strong problem-solving, systems-thinking, communication, stakeholder management, and technical decision-making skills.·
Ability to influence technical direction, mentor engineers, communicate architecture decisions, and collaborate across geographically distributed teams.
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training
Experience
Required: Expert level experience, expansive and far reaching knowledge in software engineering
8-10+ years of relevant work-related experience
3+ years of experience providing technical leadership through architecture/design decisions, engineering standards, code quality, mentoring, or delivery leadership.
Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native application engineering in production environments.·
Demonstrated experience working with CMS/DAM platforms, with Adobe AEM and/or comparable enterprise CMS experience strongly preferred.·
Demonstrated experience with Adobe Workfront and/or Workfront Fusion, or comparable workflow/integration platforms.·
Experience designing REST/GraphQL APIs, microservices, event-driven integrations, messaging, middleware, or MuleSoft-based enterprise integrations.·
