Position Summary
Credence has an immediate need for a mid-level Google Looker Developer to join the Defense Automatic Addressing System (DAAS) Digital Business Transformation (DBX) Reporting Modernization team. The developer will design, build, test, and maintain enterprise analytics solutions that turn trusted data into intuitive dashboards, governed metrics, and self-service reporting experiences. This position requires hands-on Google Cloud Looker Enterprise and LookML experience; Looker Studio experience alone does not meet the requirements of the role.
This role is responsible for translating business needs into scalable LookML models, Explores, dashboards, and reusable data products over approved enterprise-managed data. The developer will work with report owners, business analysts, data engineers, testers, architects, and security specialists to modernize legacy reporting while preserving data accuracy, traceability, accessibility, security, and performance. The role owns the Looker semantic and reporting layer and collaborates with data engineering on transformation logic and source-to-dashboard validation; primary upstream ETL and pipeline ownership remains with data engineering.
Responsibilities
· Translate DAAS business questions, key performance indicators, acceptance criteria, and legacy report behavior into reusable Looker solutions.
· Develop and maintain LookML projects, including models, views, Explores, dimensions, measures, joins, parameters, and access controls.
· Build intuitive Looker dashboards and self-service analytical experiences for medium-complexity operational and enterprise datasets.
· Write and optimize SQL used for data exploration, validation, transformations, derived tables, and performance troubleshooting.
· Develop reusable semantic models for self-service analytics that promote consistent metrics across multiple reporting applications.
· Connect Looker to approved enterprise data sources, including Amazon Redshift, Oracle, BigQuery, and related reporting datasets.
· Use Git-based development workflows to manage branches, peer reviews, version control, releases, and promotion across environments.
· Validate calculations, filters, drill paths, row-level access, exports, schedules, and dashboard interactions; troubleshoot discrepancies, model errors, content validation issues, and performance concerns.
· Support report rationalization by assessing legacy reports, consolidating redundant content, and mapping approved requirements to modernized Looker assets.
· Support Section 508 accessibility, usability, security, privacy, and compliance expectations for reports and dashboards.
· Create and maintain technical documentation, data dictionaries, metric definitions, deployment notes, and user-facing guidance.
· Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, demonstrations, testing, defect resolution, and release activities within an Agile delivery team.

· U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
· Ability to meet the applicable IT II Non Critical Sensitive or Tier 3 suitability requirement.
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
· At least four years of relevant experience developing business intelligence, analytics, or data visualization solutions.
· Hands-on experience developing in Google Looker and LookML, including governed semantic models, views, Explores, dimensions, measures, joins, reusable logic, and dashboards.
· Strong SQL skills across Amazon Redshift, Oracle, BigQuery, or comparable enterprise platforms, with the ability to review transformations and troubleshoot source-to-report issues alongside data engineers. Primary ETL ownership is not required.
· Experience using Git or an equivalent version-control workflow for collaborative development and release management.
· Experience validating data, calculations, business rules, and dashboard behavior across source-to-report workflows.
· Experience working in Scrum, SAFe, or another Agile delivery environment, with knowledge of software development lifecycle practices and collaborative release management.
· Ability to independently analyze medium-complexity datasets, clarify ambiguous requirements, and deliver reliable analytical solutions with minimal oversight.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clarify requirements and collaborate with technical and functional stakeholders.
· A relevant certification from a nationally recognized technical authority, or the ability to obtain one as required.
Preferred Qualifications
· Active DoD Secret clearance, current IT II or Tier 3 eligibility, and experience supporting DLA, DoD, or another federal government program.
Experience with Looker performance tuning, APIs, embedded analytics, scheduled delivery, deployment automation, data quality, metadata, lineage, privacy, governance, or custom visualization technologie
