We are looking for a Technical Programme Manager to lead the delivery of IonQ's quantum computing systems to customer sites across Europe and Asia. You will own deployment and commissioning end to end, from early planning and export through to installation, commissioning and customer handover.
You will work across engineering, science, global mobility, legal and trade compliance, supply chain, logistics, facilities, security and customer teams. We are growing quickly and the support functions a programme manager finds at a larger company are still being built here, so the role suits someone who takes ownership, designs the process where none exists, and sweats the detail themselves.
What you will do
Lead planning and execution of quantum system deployment and commissioning at customer sites across Europe and Asia.
Run export, import and customs work with legal, trade compliance and logistics teams for highly specialised equipment.
Coordinate global mobility for deploying teams, covering visas, work authorisation, travel and field assignment readiness.
Drive site readiness with facilities, security, networking and customer stakeholders, and coordinate staffing, installation sequencing and vendors onsite.
Track risk and critical path, and resolve issues across internal teams, vendors and customers.
What you will bring
You will come from a hardware background, with five or more years running technical programmes or deployments of complex hardware systems, and a technical degree or equivalent experience. You will have moved equipment and people across borders before, so export, customs and visas are familiar ground rather than a surprise. You will be comfortable holding a critical path across teams that do not report to you, and able to explain technical status clearly to engineers, executives and customers alike.

Experience taking a first of its kind product from prototype into production.
Installing or commissioning complex hardware at customer sites internationally.
Work with enterprise, government or research customers during onsite deployment.
A second European language. English is the working requirement, anything further is a bonus.
Exposure to trapped ion systems, photonics or quantum computing, or an MS in a related technical field.
This role is based in Oxford, on site three days a week, with travel of around 30 to 40 per cent depending on deployment schedules.
Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
