Your role and responsibilities:
Electric Motor Design Engineer for a complete range of NEMA motors. Design and Specification of Windings and Electrical Components. Complete Drawings and Manufacturing Bill of Material. Complete Testing to demonstrate conformity with regulatory and application requirements. Apply Engineering principles and judgment in the motor design process. Engage in initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the Product Development and R&D Engineering Function. Design motors which are successful in unique Applications and meet Customer expectations.

You will be mainly accountable for:
Design and develop custom motor and winding solutions that meet customer specifications, safety requirements, regulatory standards, and business objectives.
Analyze motor performance, test results, and design changes to validate requirements, optimize product performance, and maintain accurate engineering documentation and bills of material.
Collaborate with R&D, Product Development, Sales, Product Management, and Technical Solutions teams to support new product innovation, customer needs, and cost-reduction initiatives.
Maintain engineering databases and technical records while authorizing design updates, material substitutions, and repair procedures in compliance with corporate, industry, and ethical standards.
Qualifications for the role:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Preferred Experience Includes: Electrical design and/or product development for an industrial manufacturing company.
Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and 3D CAD modeling, including assembly design, detail drawings, GD&T, and engineering change documentation.
Proven experience designing electromechanical products, motors, or industrial equipment with a strong understanding of manufacturability, materials, and production processes.
Demonstrated ability to analyze design performance, resolve technical issues, maintain accurate bills of material, and ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Strong collaboration, communication, and project management skills with the ability to work effectively across R&D, Product Development, Operations, Sales, and Manufacturing teams to support innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
