What You Will Do:
HPE Networking is seeking a Solution Test & Automation Engineer to contribute to the validation and quality of networking and software solutions. This Individual Contributor role applies intermediate technical expertise to test products, automate workflows, and resolve common technical challenges. The role combines software testing, automation development, system validation, and collaboration with engineering teams to support delivery of reliable and high-quality solutions.
You will partner with engineering, product management, services, and support teams to validate networking solutions, execute test plans, and improve product quality. You will work independently within established frameworks and collaborate with team members to achieve project objectives.
Success in this role requires applying subject matter expertise to solve common technical problems, delivering quality improvements, collaborating effectively with project teams, and supporting customer and business objectives.
Solution Validation & Customer Engagement
Understand customer deployments, business requirements, architectures, and large-scale operational environments to develop comprehensive validation strategies.
Execute validation efforts for customer solutions and networking deployments.
Collaborate with engineers and project stakeholders to validate networking solutions and operational readiness.
Participate in technical discussions and reviews to improve reliability and serviceability.
Translate requirements into repeatable validation test plans.
Present technical findings and quality recommendations to project stakeholders.
Support team initiatives that improve customer outcomes and product quality.
Automation & Quality Engineering
Develop and maintain automated tests for product validation.
Develop and enhance automation frameworks supporting functional, integration, and system validation.
Apply engineering best practices for validation within CI/CD pipelines.
Adopt new automation tools and engineering practices when appropriate.
Recommend quality engineering practices that improve productivity.
Identify opportunities to simplify validation workflows and reduce operational costs through automation.
System-Level Testing & Debugging
Validate distributed software and networking platforms.
Execute and automate regression, longevity, fault-injection, recovery, scalability, interoperability, and performance testing.
Utilize logs, metrics, traces, telemetry, observability platforms, and diagnostic frameworks to troubleshoot complex failures.
Perform root-cause analysis of product and test failures.
Differentiate product defects from infrastructure, automation, and environmental issues.
Provide feedback to improve product testability and diagnosability.
Technical Leadership
Provide technical support for project releases and validation activities.
Act as a knowledgeable contributor for solution validation and quality engineering.
Work with engineering teams to support quality objectives.
Drive quality-first engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle.
Share knowledge and collaborate with team members.
Contribute ideas that improve testing efficiency and product quality.
Build long-term technical capabilities that create recurring business value and customer impact.
What You Need to Bring:
Required Qualifications
Software Engineering & Automation
Working proficiency in Python, Go, or C++ and strong scripting skills.
Experience developing automated tests and test frameworks.
Experience using automated testing in CI/CD environments.
Proven history of driving transformational automation initiatives.
Systems & Networking
Strong understanding of Linux/UNIX operating systems, networking, processes, memory management, and system internals.
Experience validating software systems and networked applications.
Experience configuring and validating networking environments.
Experience supporting enterprise networking deployments.
Working knowledge of performance and traffic-generation tools.
Testing & Quality Engineering
Experience in system-level and end-to-end validation.
Multi-feature, longevity, resiliency, interoperability, scale, and performance testing.
Fault injection and recovery validation.
Root-cause analysis and complex defect investigation.
Advanced troubleshooting across multiple software and infrastructure layers.
Leadership & Influence
Demonstrated ability to complete technical assignments and project deliverables.
Ability to provide technical recommendations within assigned projects.
Experience working effectively within technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Should have industry experience of 2+ years
Advanced networking expertise in Layer 2, Layer 3, TCP/IP, Routing, and data center technologies.
Experience with network operating systems, cloud infrastructure, observability platforms, and distributed architectures.
Working knowledge of JUNOS.
Industry certifications such as JNCIA, CCIA, or equivalent.
Experience leveraging AI-assisted engineering tools for automation development, test generation, diagnostics, failure analysis, and productivity improvements.
Track record of innovation resulting in patents, publications, standards contributions, or architectural leadership
