Job Description:
Essential Functions
Reviews and investigates electronic reported events and all reported events.
Evaluates and distributes patient data.
Reviews and ensures adequacy of hospital policies and procedures for risk control and safety.
Develops and implements investigative, safety, and educational programs to reduce liability exposure.
Ensures risks are minimized through follow-up on regulatory and insurance survey recommendations.
Notifies Director of Risk Management of incidents with potential or actual liability.
Assists legal counsel in litigation preparation, including witness interviews and record review.
Assists in resolving patient and family complaints.
Provides risk-related information, support, and training to staff at all levels.
On-call responsibilities shared with other risk/legal team members.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, risk management, business administration or a related field
Experience Requirement
5+ years of experience in risk management, nursing, business administration, or a relevant area
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
Certifications & Licensures
Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license
CPHRM within two (2) years of hire.
