What you'll be doing
Our mortgage enforcement team protects CIBC’s interests by providing oversight, expertise, and strategic direction across complex enforcement matters in Canada. As a Director, Mortgage Enforcement - Subject Matter Expert (SME), you’ll lead the development and evolution of mortgage enforcement strategies that align with business priorities, legal requirements, and risk management objectives. You’ll act as the senior authority on foreclosure, power of sale, and related enforcement remedies, advising leaders and partners on emerging trends, risk exposures, and regulatory considerations. You’ll guide the design of strong practices, procedures, and reporting that support consistent, compliant, and efficient enforcement operations. You’ll also partner across legal, risk, product, and operational teams to strengthen controls, improve client outcomes, and deliver strategic projects that enhance the mortgage enforcement function.

How you'll succeed
Lead strategy - Develop and oversee the mortgage enforcement strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, legal requirements, and evolving industry practices. Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on enforcement trends, emerging risks, and priority actions.
Provide expert advice - Serve as the senior subject matter expert on mortgage enforcement matters across Canada, including foreclosure, power of sale, and related legal remedies. Review complex files, advise on legal proceedings, and help shape sound enforcement decisions.
Strengthen compliance and controls - Monitor changes in legislation, regulatory expectations, and industry standards to ensure enforcement activities remain compliant. Establish, review, and enhance procedures, documentation, and reporting to support strong governance and audit readiness.
Manage risk - Identify and assess legal, operational, and reputational risks within the enforcement portfolio. Recommend and implement controls that reduce exposure, support escalation and reporting, and protect the bank’s interests.
Drive improvement and partnership - Lead projects and initiatives that improve efficiency, consistency, and client experience within mortgage enforcement. Build strong relationships with internal partners, external legal counsel, and industry stakeholders, while sharing expertise and supporting capability development across the team.
