Maintenance Operations Supervisor (On-Site at Seymour Engine Plant))

We are looking for a talented Maintenance Operations Supervisor to join our Cummins Inc. team in Seymour, Indiana.

Lead maintenance operations that maximize equipment uptime, reliability, and production performance across the facility.
Drive preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies that improve equipment availability and reduce downtime.
Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Facilities, Materials, and HSE teams to resolve complex equipment and process issues.
Champion a safety-first culture by ensuring compliance with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and maintenance best practices.
Develop and mentor maintenance professionals to build technical capability, employee engagement, and organizational strength.
Analyze equipment performance data to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and improve operational efficiency.
Oversee maintenance planning, spare parts strategies, and contractor activities to support uninterrupted production.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment performance, process reliability, and manufacturing outcomes.
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Key Competencies:
This is a highly visible, onsite day-shift leadership role based at the Seymour Engine Plant. We are seeking a talented Senior Maintenance Engineer to join Cummins Inc. in Seymour, IN, serving as the site's Maintenance Manager.
In this position, you will provide leadership and oversight for maintenance operations across all major production areas of the Seymour Plant, including Assembly, Engine Hot Test, Upfit/Paint, Machining, Fabrication, and the Seymour Machining Center (SMC). You will lead a diverse maintenance organization comprised of DWU Skilled Trades employees, including Machine Repair, Electrician, and Tool Maker professionals, as well as an OCU Maintenance Administrator.
The maintenance organization supports a 24/7 manufacturing environment, providing coverage across all three production shifts, with some operations running on a seven-day schedule. This role has primary responsibility for the day and midnight shift maintenance teams and will work in close partnership with the 2nd Shift Maintenance Supervisor to ensure seamless maintenance support, equipment reliability, production continuity, and safe operations across the facility.
While our preference is to identify qualified candidates within the local market, we would consider relocation for an exceptional candidate who brings the desired experience, technical expertise, and leadership capabilities.
Preferred experience leading skilled trades personnel, including Machine Repair, Electrician, Tool Maker, and maintenance support teams.
Serve as the Seymour Engine Plant owner for the Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) program, including procedural compliance, training, certification activities, and equipment placarding.
Preferred experience directly supervising hourly maintenance employees, with preference for candidates who bring 7+ years of people leadership experience.
Lead maintenance support across Assembly, Engine Hot Test, Upfit/Paint, Machining, Fabrication, and Seymour Machining Center (SMC) operations.
Preferred knowledge of PLCs, DC torque equipment, CNC machining centers, and advanced troubleshooting techniques for equipment faults and failures.
Drive downtime analysis, reporting, corrective action planning, and implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
Support internal and external audits, compliance initiatives, management of change activities, and equipment lifecycle planning.
Lead hiring, performance management, coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and workforce development for maintenance personnel.
Coordinate outside contractor activities while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and operational requirements.
Oversee MRO inventory strategies, spare parts management, parts ordering processes, and maintenance tool availability.
Promote workplace organization through visual controls, 5S principles, housekeeping standards, and maintenance workspace optimization.
Manage Power Industrial Vehicle (PIV) maintenance coordination and related compliance activities.
Identify technical skill gaps and develop training plans that strengthen team capabilities and operational effectiveness.
Lead and support safety investigations, corrective action implementation, and continuous improvement projects.
Manage maintenance coverage, overtime planning, employee timekeeping, purchase card administration, and departmental expenditures.
Shift Requirements: This is an onsite day-shift leadership role supporting both day and midnight shift maintenance teams. The position requires schedule flexibility to support production needs across a three-shift operation, including areas operating on a seven-day production schedule.
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
Demonstrated leadership experience supervising maintenance teams, developing employees, and driving accountability in a manufacturing environment.
Strong technical expertise in troubleshooting industrial equipment, controls systems, PLCs, CNC machining centers, and production technologies.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, solve complex operational challenges, and execute both immediate and long-term improvement strategies.
