The Position
We're excited to expand our team and are looking for a customer-focused Sr Bioinformatics Engineer. In this role, you will enable and support bioinformatics data analyses for our valued customers and collaborators. It's important that you understand customer concerns at various levels and know how to address them with empathy and care.
As a Senior Bioinformatics Engineer, you’ll be crucial in implementing analytical pipelines while working within a thorough solution development and testing framework. We're looking for someone skilled in software development practices and with a foundational understanding of next-generation sequencing.
The Opportunity:
Function as the bioinformatics primary technical lead ensuring adequate support across internal Roche teams, external collaborators, and customers.
Train, enable, and support customers during pre- and post-sales stages on successfully implementing data analysis pipelines and technical discussions.
Serving as a liaison with Marketing, Sales, and Scientific Support teams to identify commercial needs, identify analytical deficiencies, and propose innovative solutions.
Support sales in conducting scientific presentations, technical discussions, and customer meetings
Proactively identifies operational bottlenecks, technical limitations, and process gaps, formulating and presenting robust, innovative solutions to key internal peers and external business partners or customers.
Sets and drives projects that are aligned with overarching business objectives and needs
Provide customer feedback to product marketing and software development.
Travel 10% to 25% of the time in and outside the Boston area for customer on-site support and training.
Who You Are:
PhD in a relevant subject (Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, or a closely related subject) with 3 years of related experience OR, Masters degree in a relevant subject (Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, or a closely related subject) with 8 years of related experience.
Preferred Requirements:
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work as an effective team member of a goal-oriented team.
Demonstrated proficiency in Python, source control tools (git), and pipeline workflow management tools like Nextflow or Snakemake.
Understanding of Linux systems administration.
Demonstrated ability to plan, build, troubleshoot, and complete solutions to data problems, ideally in life sciences industry.
Excellent organization and outstanding attention to detail.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
A basic knowledge of sequencing.
Knowledge of state-of-the-art sequence analysis tools and workflows, such as sequence alignment, variant calling, de novo assembly, genome visualization, transcript mapping
Demonstrated experience with next-generation sequencing data analyses and pipeline development or implementation.
Demonstrated experience with implementing cloud-based computing infrastructure
Knowledge of relational databases, such as PostgreSQL

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Wilmington is $127,300 - $236,300. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
