Job Overview
As a Senior Frontend Developer, you will play a critical role in enhancing Mejuri's digital experience, ensuring our website and customer-facing applications reflect our commitment to excellence. You'll work on high-impact projects, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, and help shape the future of our digital presence, including how we use AI to build faster and better.
What you'll do
Build and maintain performant, scalable web applications on Shopify and Hydrogen, with a focus on performance, accessibility, and SEO.
Lead architectural decisions for frontend projects and refactor existing systems, raising code quality as you go.
Use AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow, with the judgement to know when to lean on them and when not to.
Build AI-assisted workflows and internal tooling that make the wider team faster, not just yourself.
Contribute to customer-facing AI features (search, personalization, content generation) and help evaluate whether the output is good enough to ship.
Partner with design, product, and backend to turn ideas into seamless customer experiences.
Mentor junior and intermediate developers, and contribute to code reviews, planning, and retrospectives
What you'll bring to the team
5+ years of frontend development experience with strong TypeScript/JavaScript expertise
Deep React experience, including React Router v7 or equivalent modern routing frameworks
Experience building and maintaining large-scale e-commerce applications
Strong understanding of Shopify's ecosystem, particularly the Hydrogen framework
Experience with headless commerce architectures
Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants in a production codebase, and a clear point of view on where they help and where they create risk
Comfort writing effective prompts and context for AI tools, and reviewing AI-generated code with the same rigour you'd apply to a colleague's PR
Proficiency writing unit and integration tests
Experience with GraphQL and REST APIs
Experience with performance optimization and web vitals
Strong UX/UI sensibilities and the ability to collaborate closely with design

Things we consider an asset:
React Native or mobile experience. This role sits on web, but engineers who can move across both are a real advantage to us.
Exposure to agentic tooling or MCP-based integrations
Experience shipping an AI-powered product feature end to end
Familiarity with observability tooling (Honeycomb, Sentry, or similar)
Experience with modern frontend tooling at scale (Git, NPM/Yarn, SCSS, ES6)

Salary
Looking for the perfect next opportunity is a big decision. Mejuri recognizes the importance of pay transparency when it comes to salary ranges as it empowers individuals through the hiring process and supports them in making an informed decision. This role currently has a base pay range of 120-145K per annum based on a candidate’s experience and qualifications. We will review individual salary expectations and **weight salary commensurate with experience.
