Job Description Summary:
Evaluates patients for acupuncture therapy and administers patient care according to treatment plan.
Job Description:
Essential Functions:
Completes assessment of pain history and develops plan for acupuncture therapy in collaboration with pain team.
Administers appropriate acupuncture theraputic care and procedures according to treatment plan and standard practices.
Monitors patient's progress and adjusts treatment plan as necessary. Participates in care conferences with Pain Team to evaluate alternative care when goals of acupuncture are deemed ineffective.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting treatment plan and response.
Educates patients and families on the procedure and the risks and benefits of acupuncture. Provides education to other health care team members on the use of acupuncture.
Adheres to customer service principles as defined by Nationwide Children’s Hospital to both internal and external customers. Protects confidentiality of patients.
Education Requirement:
Master's Degree or equivalent for obtaining certification, required.
Licensure Requirement:
Licensure by the Ohio Medical Board, required.
Certifications:
Certification by the National board of Acupuncture or Oriental Medicine, required.
Skills:
Acupuncture skills to meet board requirements.
Experience:
One year of practice or education in an integrated medicine environment, required.
Experience with pediatric acupuncture, preferred
