Laboratory Operator I
To safely and efficiently carry out the duties of Lab Operator I with minimum direction and supervision.
What you’ll do:
Post secondary education in a chemistry related field, preferably completed two years Industrial Laboratory Technologist Course from a recognized institution.
Preferably a minimum of one year related laboratory experience.
Understanding of refinery process sample terminology.
Working knowledge of at least one computer system (WINDOWS).
Understanding of basic instrumental methods of analysis including Atomic Absorption, ICP-OES, Flame Photometry, pH meters, UV/Visible Spectrophotometer, X-RAY Fluorescence, FTNIR etc.
What you’ll need:
Demonstrate strong organizational skills while managing multiple demands.
Carry out all analysis/test procedures required for process control, shipping samples, environmental samples, mine samples, basic water analysis and other samples as required.
Use lab computer system to update and maintain daily analysis data files.
Operate analysis equipment and perform routine calibrations and adjustments.
Calibrate basic analysis equipment.
Prepare routine standard solutions.
Assist in adapting present lab procedures to fit new requirements as required.
Maintain all required laboratory statistics and records.
Understand and apply SDS information.
Recognize and identify discrepancies in analysis and procedures, and resolve these if appropriate.
Work day, afternoon and night shift as required or on a rotating basis.
Work effectively with a minimum amount of supervision in the Laboratory at K1 and K2.
Diligently adhere to all relevant legal environmental requirements.
Diligently ensure that all relevant OH&S requirements and in-house safety regulations are complied with.
