General Summary
Operator will perform a pre trip inspection prior to commencing work, and needs ot be capable of mixing lime at at various depths with consistency in accordance with TXDOT Quality Control specifications.
Essential Job Accountabilities
Machine Setup & Operation: sets up, controls, and maintains the industrial machinery used to blend raw lime (calcium oxide or hydrated lime) with water, sand, or other chemical aggregates. Because of the highly caustic nature of lime, this role requires strict adherence to safety protocol alongside careful mechanical management. Calibrate, load, and run heavy mixing machine
Batch Consistency & Measurements: Weigh, measure, and load raw chemical ingredients according to precise formula specifications. For construction and masonry mortars, operators manage specific water-to-lime proportions and monitor exact mix durations (typically around 10 minutes) to ensure proper chemical blending without losing light materials to the wind
Quality Assurance: Inspect the "slump" or thickness of the output and pull regular physical samples to verify chemical ratios conform to rigorous quality standards.
Preventative Maintenance: Clean machinery components, troubleshoot blockages with hand tools, and clear bulk sediment between formulation changes to keep equipment operating efficiently.
Safety & PPE Compliance: Due to hazardous dust and chemical burn risks from quicklime, operators must wear specialized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including respirators, goggles, and caustic-resistant gloves.
Education
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
Work Experience
Appropriate training and experience required

Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
