The Ohio State University College of Medicine and OSU Athletics seek a clinical sport psychologist to join the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.
Position Overview

Our emphasis across conditions is on delivery and development of empirically supported treatments and approaches. We are interested in candidates that complement our current strengths and support our tripartite mission – patient care, education, and clinical research. We seek to hire faculty to help build our Sport Psychology & Wellness Program. The successful candidate will join our interdisciplinary Sport Psychology team, housed within OSU Athletics, serving the behavioral health and wellness needs of our student-athletes. The psychologist directs or provides care in a manner consistent with the privileges granted them by the governing body of University Hospitals and as approved by the University Board of Trustees.
Department/Division Overview
The successful candidates will join a 60+-member Section of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health. Our Section offers robust training opportunities, including externship experiences, psychology pre-doctoral internship, and several fellowship programs. Duties and Responsibilities
Faculty responsibilities are consistent with our tripartite mission – patient care, education, and clinical research. The Sport Psychologist will provide psychotherapy and mental skills training for OSU student-athletes; will represent OSU at professional meetings and community speaking engagements; will collaborate with the Sports Medicine Behavioral Health team of sport psychologists, athletic counselors, postdoctoral fellows, and pre-doctoral interns; and will collaborate with Sports Medicine staff including orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, nurses, and sport dietitians. This role requires thorough knowledge of the DSM-5 and mental health diagnoses within the ICD-10. The individual selected for this position will have ample opportunities to contribute to training, research, and other scholarly pursuits. Other duties include but are not limited to representing the program or Department by participating in committees, conferences, and representing OSU at professional meetings and community speaking engagements. The psychologist is expected to practice within the established Medical Center and standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to key results areas of the Medical Center.
Requirements
Doctoral Degree in Psychology. Applicants must be from an APA- or CPA-accredited clinical or counseling psychology doctoral program (with an accredited clinical internship) and be licensed in Ohio by the time of appointment. ABDs are welcome to apply. The psychologist must be competent in technical clinical skills and must possess the cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve patients receiving the above-mentioned services. Candidates with previous training or experience in an academic medical center will be given preference. Candidates with the requisite expertise with a clinical doctoral degree in an allied discipline (e.g., social work, counseling) will also be considered. As this is a clinical role, the successful candidate must be independently licensed or license-eligible in the state of Ohio.

Faculty Defined
Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research. ​
Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.​
Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.​
