Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Senior Software Engineer to act as a key individual contributor and mentor within our engineering team. In this role, you will lead complex, well-defined projects, apply advanced engineering principles to enhance existing systems, and collaborate across the organization to solve shared technical challenges. You will bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution, designing systems that are scalable, observable, and maintainable while elevating the technical capabilities of the peers around you.
Requirements
Experience & Education: 5+ years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years of experience with a Master’s degree.
Technical Breadth: Proven experience developing software in at least 3 different programming languages, with deep, specialized expertise in 1-2 languages or technology implementations.
Production Experience: Track record of successfully maintaining and running at least 4 distinct software projects/products in live production environments.
System Design: Strong ability to design moderately complex, highly testable, and observable systems, alongside solid expertise in relational and/or non-relational database design principles.
Tooling & Troubleshooting: Deep understanding of modern testing and monitoring tools, with exceptional application debugging capabilities.
Strategic Problem Solving: Proven ability to evaluate and select the right technology stacks for specific use cases, understanding the deep relationships between applications, databases, and platform infrastructure.
Business Acumen: Clear understanding of how individual projects and team goals map directly to overarching business needs.
Job responsibilities
System & API Development: Lead the design, development, and testing of complex, non-routine software applications, including creating APIs to be consumed across multiple business units.
Production Ownership: Maintain, monitor, and optimize production environments, ensuring technical issues are debugged and resolved strictly within established SLAs.
Code Quality & Architecture: Apply advanced knowledge of software design principles, data structures, and frameworks to write code that is clean, modular, and optimized.
Technical Leadership: Conduct comprehensive code reviews to guide code evolution and ensure high architectural standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Bring together varied stakeholders to develop holistic solutions that account for structure, people, processes, and technology.
Process Improvement: Proactively identify inefficiencies in system operations or existing code and implement strategic process enhancements across organizational boundaries.
Technical Reporting: Compile and present major operational or technical initiatives, such as Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), to broader organizational groups via written and oral channels.
Mentorship: Actively mentor junior engineers, participate in communities of practice, and continually share new technical skills to increase overall team effectiveness.
