Senior Cloud Migration Engineer

Job Overview
Plan A Technologies is looking for a Senior Cloud Migration Engineer to lead complex cloud-to-cloud migrations, with a strong focus on Azure to AWS transitions. This role owns the migration strategy, execution, and optimization, ensuring minimal disruption, strong performance, and cost efficiency.
You will work hands-on across architecture, data, and workloads, partnering with engineering and infrastructure teams to deliver secure and scalable migrations. The ideal candidate has deep, real-world experience executing Azure to AWS migrations end-to-end and has operated in high-scale environments.
Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of experience with end-to-end Azure to AWS migration projects to be considered for this role.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
Lead end-to-end Azure to AWS migration projects (assessment, planning, execution, and cutover).
Define target AWS architectures aligned with scalability, security, and cost best practices.
Migrate workloads including compute, storage, databases, and networking components.
Design and execute data migration strategies ensuring integrity and minimal downtime.
Implement and optimize migration tooling and automation.
Troubleshoot and resolve migration issues across infrastructure and application layers.
Ensure proper validation, performance testing, and post-migration stabilization.
Collaborate with engineering teams to refactor or replatform workloads when needed.
Document architectures, migration plans, and runbooks.
Experience
Proven senior-level experience leading Azure to AWS migrations in production environments.
Strong hands-on experience with: AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM) and Azure (VMs, Storage, Networking).
Experience migrating applications and data across cloud providers.
Solid understanding of cloud architecture, networking, and security fundamentals.
Experience with infrastructure migration tools (e.g., AWS Migration Hub, DMS, or equivalent).
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in distributed systems.
Understanding of networking, security, identity, data, observability, and infrastructure automation across both platforms
Ability to lead technical decisions and work directly with engineering and client teams
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Initiative and drive to do great things.
Nice to have
Experience with additional cloud migrations (e.g., AWS to GCP, Azure to GCP).
Background working at or closely with major cloud providers (AWS, Microsoft, or Google).
Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Python).
Familiarity with containerized workloads (e.g., Docker).
