Education- Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, or a related field; OR
Master’s degree with 5–8 years of relevant industry experience in bioinformatics and genomics
Role Description The Senior Bioinformatician will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of bioinformatics pipelines, with a focus on sequencing data and statistical analysis. Day-to-day responsibilities include processing and analyzing large-scale DNA sequencing datasets, developing algorithms and workflows, and interpreting results to support research and product initiatives. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, documenting methodologies, and presenting findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders. The Senior Bioinformatician will also mentor junior team members, contribute to project planning, and ensure data quality and reproducibility. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Pune City, with compensation up to 15 LPA depending on experience and qualifications.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Statistics and Data Analysis, including experience with large biological datasets.
Hands-on experience with Sequencing and DNA Sequencing workflows, tools, and platforms.
Proven background in Research, including experimental design, hypothesis testing, and scientific reporting.
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics (such as Python, R, or similar) and familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
Experience with bioinformatics libraries, databases, and tools (e.g., NGS analysis tools, alignment software, variant calling pipelines).
Master’s or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Biotechnology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for documenting methods and presenting results.
Experience in leading projects or mentoring team members in bioinformatics or related domains is preferred.
