Senior Software Engineer – AI Integrations & Application Layer

About the Role
We're looking for an experienced software engineer who knows how to turn AI models into real, production-ready product functionality. This is not primarily a machine learning or model-training role. We need someone who is highly experienced at the application layer: using APIs from LLMs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or similar models to build AI functionality directly into SaaS applications.
You'll work closely with the founder on the architecture and logic behind AI features, including deciding which models and tools make sense for different use cases, building reliable integrations, and helping develop the infrastructure that connects AI capabilities to the broader platform.
What You'll Work On
• Design the logic and architecture for integrating AI throughout the product.
• Determine which LLMs, APIs, and approaches are best suited for different product features.
• Build production AI functionality using LLM APIs.
• Build, manage, and integrate MCP servers and MCP-based tools.
• Help develop the company's AI harness and application layer.
• Build and maintain third-party integrations, including integrations triggered when customers connect their domains.
• Debug application and integration issues that distract the core team from product development.
• Improve the reliability and scalability of existing functionality.
• Work directly in the codebase alongside the founder and engineering team.
What We're Looking For
• Hands-on experience building AI-enabled SaaS applications.
• Strong experience integrating LLM APIs into real products, not just prototypes.
• Understanding of model selection and orchestration, including when and why to use different models.
• Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP), ideally including creating or managing MCP servers.
• Strong backend API and third-party integration experience.
• Experience building complex, interactive web applications.
• Ability to debug and work effectively within an existing production codebase.
Highly Valuable Experience
• Website builders or content management platforms.
• WordPress products, plugins, or platforms.
• Products similar to Weebly, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, or other website-building platforms.
• Video editors, design tools, or other complex browser-based editing applications.
• AI functionality embedded inside existing SaaS products.
Previous experience with Weebly or developing products for the WordPress ecosystem would be particularly relevant.

Compensation
Target range: ₦1,000,000 – ₦1,800,000 gross per month, depending on experience and demonstrated fit. Candidates with unusually strong production LLM/MCP experience combined with website-builder or CMS experience may command compensation above this range.
