Finance Ops Associate

Monumental is automating on-site construction with robotics and software. Our mission is to make construction software-defined and autonomous - a future where beautiful, bespoke buildings go up in a single day, with minimal labour.
We're a growing team of engineers, operators and technicians from diverse backgrounds, including consumer tech, finance and media, and companies like Dyson, Shopify, Meta and Tesla. It's still the early days of building the company, and this is a chance to make an outsized impact on a problem that matters. From day one, you'll be working with an experienced founding team, backed by a $32M Series B led by Khosla Ventures and Plural, alongside other renowned investors.
Monumental is based in the city centre of Amsterdam, in a beautiful facility with a fully equipped workshop and robot testing floor. We build the whole stack in-house, hardware and software. Our work involves building robots in our workshop and houses on real construction sites, so we're onsite five days a week.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a Finance Ops Associate to help run the financial operations behind Monumental. You'll spend the majority of your time on invoice processing, month-end closing and financial administration, working closely with our finance and operations teams to keep the numbers accurate and the day-to-day work moving.
This is a role for someone near the start of their career who enjoys working with numbers and wants to understand how a company actually runs. You'll check invoices, chase missing information, reconcile transactions and make sure the details are right. Some of the work is repetitive, but it matters: suppliers need to be paid on time, records need to be complete, and the team needs financial information it can trust.
Alongside your core finance responsibilities, you'll spend a smaller part of your time helping with ad hoc special projects across the business. That could mean researching a supplier, pulling together an analysis or helping get a new operational process off the ground. As you learn the business, you'll take on more responsibility in finance and more complex projects.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Invoice processing. Keep the finance inbox moving. Check supplier invoices against orders and supporting documents, assign the right categories, resolve discrepancies and follow up on missing approvals. Prepare invoices for payment and help make sure suppliers are paid on time.
- Month-end close. Support the finance team with the monthly close: reconcile transactions, check that invoices and expenses are recorded in the right period, gather supporting documents and follow up on outstanding items so the books can be closed accurately and on time.
- Financial administration. Keep supplier records, receipts, expenses and other financial documentation complete and organised. Help prepare customer invoices, track payments and resolve day-to-day questions from colleagues and suppliers.
- Improve how we work. Spot recurring errors and unnecessary manual work, document processes and use tooling and AI to make finance operations more reliable and efficient.
- Ad hoc special projects. Help the operations team with ad-hoc priorities as priorities come up. Finance operations will remain the main focus of your role.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- An interest in finance and how a business works. You enjoy getting the details right and want to build a strong foundation in financial operations while contributing to broader projects.
- Near the start of your career: a recent graduate with strong internship experience, or up to about a year of full-time work. This is a role to learn fast in, and you don't need a long track record.
- Precise with numbers. You can work through an invoice or spreadsheet, spot something that doesn't add up and follow it through until it's resolved.
- Organised and reliable. You keep track of recurring deadlines, finish the checklist and chase the last missing detail without needing someone to remind you.
- Comfortable with spreadsheets and quick to learn new systems. You're interested in using software and AI to reduce repetitive work, while checking the output carefully.
- A clear communicator. You can get the information you need from colleagues and suppliers, ask questions when something is unclear and flag problems early.
- Discreet with confidential financial and company information.
- A bias to ownership. You fix what's broken, document what you do and are happy to help with an unfamiliar project when it needs a pair of hands.
- Fluent Dutch and English. You'll work with Dutch suppliers and financial documents, and communicate with our international team in English.
- Nice to have: experience with bookkeeping, accounts payable or month-end close; familiarity with accounting or expense management software; a finance, accounting or business background; time at a growing startup or in construction or manufacturing.
