Position Overview
AI for E-Commerce is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to lead the company's accounting team and establish scalable financial control systems, reporting processes, and accounting infrastructure.
The CAO will have full responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, compliance, audits, and financial governance.
This executive will collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure the accounting department effectively supports the company's continued growth, new product development, strategic initiatives, and increasingly complex business operations.
Core Responsibilities
Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, revenue recognition, account reconciliations, and financial close processes.
Oversee and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
Maintain accurate financial statements and accounting records in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Develop and maintain robust internal control systems, accounting policies, and financial governance processes.
Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors, tax experts, and financial advisors.
Oversee tax filings and compliance activities in collaboration with internal and external experts.
Establish scalable accounting systems and processes capable of supporting the company's rapid growth.
Collaborate closely with the executive team on budgeting, forecasting, cash management, financial planning, and strategic decision-making; provide accounting guidance for new products, partnerships, investment projects, and corporate strategic initiatives.
Identify financial and operational risks and implement appropriate control measures. Build, develop, and lead a high-performing accounting and finance team.
Leverage automation, artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and modern fintech tools to enhance accounting efficiency.
Report financial status and provide accounting insights to senior management and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Strong preference for Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
Extensive experience in senior-level accounting and finance leadership.
Proficiency in U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, audit processes, and accounting operations.
Experience establishing or scaling accounting functions within high-growth companies.
Experience in technology, AI, SaaS, fintech, digital commerce, or related industries preferred.
Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Experience implementing modern ERP, accounting automation, and financial reporting systems preferred.
