Product Engineer

Role Overview
We are looking for a Java Backend Developer to join the product engineering team in Bangalore. The candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining scalable backend services and RESTful APIs.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in Core Java and Spring Boot, good problem-solving abilities, and experience working in a product development environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute across different layers of the application as part of a small, agile engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
Build scalable and reliable services for cloud-based SaaS products.
Develop and maintain microservices-based applications.
Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-tested code.
Work with relational and NoSQL databases to design efficient data solutions.
Integrate applications with messaging and middleware technologies.
Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decisions.
Troubleshoot and resolve application issues across different layers of the technology stack.
Work closely with product managers, QA engineers, and other developers in an Agile environment.
Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps practices.
Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, from requirement analysis through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
Take ownership of assigned modules and contribute to improving application performance, scalability, and reliability.
Required Skills
2+ years of software development experience, preferably 2.5+ years.
Strong hands-on experience with Core Java.
Good experience with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
Understanding of Microservices architecture and design patterns.
Experience developing services for cloud-based applications/products.
Strong understanding of OOP, Collections, Exception Handling, Multithreading, and Java fundamentals.
Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
Good understanding of SQL and database concepts.
Experience with Git and version control practices.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
Good understanding of different layers of the software stack and how they interact.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Good to Have
Experience with Apache Kafka or other message brokers.
Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with MongoDB, Redis, or other NoSQL databases.
Exposure to AWS cloud services.
Knowledge of Maven and/or Gradle.
Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices.
Exposure to middleware technologies, application servers, ESB, BPMS, or BRMS.
Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Experience working in a small product engineering team.
Basic understanding of UI/frontend technologies is an advantage.
