About Owlera
Owlera is an AI-powered career platform that helps students and fresh graduates gain practical experience through internship simulations inspired by real companies.
Participants work on realistic business challenges, receive AI-powered feedback, use modern professional tools, and build portfolio-ready projects that demonstrate their abilities to future employers.
We're looking for creative, detail-oriented, and user-obsessed students to join our UI/UX Design Internship and gain hands-on experience designing intuitive, beautiful digital experiences — from user research to wireframes, prototypes, and design systems.
About the Internship
As a UI/UX Design Intern, you'll work on realistic design challenges involving user research, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, and visual design for web and mobile products.
You'll learn how UI/UX designers turn user needs into interfaces, balance aesthetics with usability, and use design systems and feedback loops to build products people love to use.
Responsibilities
* Conduct user research through surveys, interviews, and mock usability sessions.
* Build user personas based on research findings and behavioral data.
* Map user journeys and identify pain points and improvement opportunities.
* Create low-fidelity wireframes for web and mobile app screens.
* Design high-fidelity mockups with consistent layouts and typography.
* Build interactive prototypes to test design flows and interactions.
* Develop and maintain design system components (buttons, inputs, cards, icons).
* Apply color theory, typography, and spacing principles to interface designs.
* Design responsive layouts that adapt across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
* Create onboarding flows, empty states, and error states for mock products.
* Conduct competitor UX audits and benchmark best-in-class interfaces.
* Analyze heatmap and click-path data to inform design improvements.
* Prepare design handoff documentation for developers (specs, assets, states).
* Design micro-interactions and simple motion to guide user attention.
* Run card-sorting exercises and information architecture improvements.
* Test designs with real users and document actionable usability insights.
* Iterate on designs based on feedback, analytics, and stakeholder input.
* Design landing pages optimized for clarity and conversion.
* Research accessibility standards (WCAG) and apply inclusive design practices.
* Use AI tools for design research, ideation, prototyping, and iteration.
* Present design concepts, research findings, and prototypes to stakeholders.
Requirements
* Current student or recent graduate in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Psychology, Fine Arts, or a related field — or a strong self-taught design portfolio.
* Strong interest in user experience, interface design, and design thinking.
* Visual sense and attention to detail in layout, color, and typography.
* Empathy for users and curiosity about how people interact with products.
* Good written and verbal communication skills for presenting design decisions.
* Basic familiarity with a design tool such as Figma (or similar) is a plus but not required.
* Interest in user research, usability testing, and accessibility.
* Ability to accept feedback and iterate on designs constructively.
* Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms is a plus.
* Previous professional UI/UX design experience is not required.
What You'll Gain
* Hands-on experience solving realistic UI/UX design challenges.
* Practical experience with user research and persona development.
* Experience building user journeys and information architecture.
* Experience creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
* Practical exposure to usability testing and feedback analysis.
* Understanding of design systems and component libraries.
* Experience designing responsive and accessible interfaces.
* Experience preparing developer handoff documentation.
* Experience running UX audits and competitor analysis.
* Understanding of conversion-focused landing page design.
* Experience using AI and modern design tools.
* Portfolio-ready UI/UX case studies and design artifacts.
* Personalized AI feedback on your work.
* Professional certificate upon successful completion.
* Mentorship and weekly learning sessions.
* Opportunity to strengthen your portfolio, resume, and interview readiness.
