System Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated System Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot IT infrastructure and systems. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of operating systems, networking, cloud technologies, system administration, and infrastructure security. The System Engineer will work closely with IT, security, development, and business teams to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design, configure, implement, and maintain enterprise IT systems and infrastructure.
Install, configure, and manage Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and overall infrastructure health.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and system-related issues.
Manage servers, storage systems, virtual machines, and enterprise applications.
Configure and maintain network services such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN, and firewalls.
Support virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms.
Assist with cloud infrastructure and services on platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
Implement system backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures.
Apply security patches, system updates, and configuration changes in accordance with organizational policies.
Monitor system logs and security events and assist with identifying and resolving vulnerabilities.
Automate repetitive infrastructure and administrative tasks using scripting tools such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
Maintain system documentation, configuration records, technical procedures, and architecture diagrams.
Participate in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and system integration projects.
Collaborate with cybersecurity and network teams to maintain secure and compliant systems.
Provide technical support and participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to system performance, reliability, and scalability.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in systems engineering, system administration, infrastructure, or a related IT role.
Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server environments.
Understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and routing.
Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Familiarity with system monitoring, backup, patch management, and security tools.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365.
Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices.
Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Azure, AWS, or VMware certifications.
