SAP Program Manager

Overview
Our client, a large healthcare organization undergoing a major SAP ERP transformation, is seeking an experienced Program Director to lead their in-flight implementation through final testing, cutover, and hypercare. This is a highly visible leadership position, partnering closely with senior IT and business leadership to steer a complex, multi-year initiative through its critical final stretch. The ideal candidate will bring strong program governance, financial oversight, and stakeholder management skills, while guiding multiple project managers and cross-functional teams through a high-pressure finish.
Responsibilities
- Lead the program through final testing, cutover, go-live, and initial hypercare, including required onsite support during cutover and hypercare periods.
- Manage multiple project managers and project leads across a complex, matrixed organization, coordinating priorities across internal teams and external vendors.
- Own program governance, including risk and issue management, financial tracking, budget oversight, and executive-level reporting through project completion.
- Partner with directors, VPs, SVPs, and business leadership to communicate progress, manage expectations, resolve escalations, and drive key decisions.
The Ideal Candidate
- Minimum of 10 years of project/program management experience, including leadership of large, complex, multi-year initiatives.
- Proven experience leading SAP ERP transformation programs, particularly projects approaching cutover, go-live, and hypercare.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience managing project or program budgets exceeding $5M and applying CapEx and OpEx guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience managing program risks, issues, dependencies, governance, vendors, statements of work (SOWs), and both onsite and offshore project resources.
- Strong executive stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and deliver difficult messages when necessary.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and leading or mentoring project managers within a strong matrixed organization.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and PPM tools; experience with tools such as Planview, Jira, or procurement/vendor management platforms is a plus.
- PMP certification preferred.
