Senior Java Software Engineer

Help build and improve the applications people use to find legal information and connect with attorneys. This organization provides digital marketing solutions for law firms and operates a major online destination for people with legal needs. Its engineering team uses cloud technologies and AI tools to support both public-facing and internal products.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will remain hands-on while leading technical decisions, delivering complex features, and mentoring other engineers.
About the Role
Design, build, and improve enterprise applications, RESTful microservices, and APIs using Java and Spring.
Lead major features from architecture and planning through testing, deployment, and production support.
Set technical standards and mentor engineers through collaboration, code reviews, and clean code practices.
Design for scalability, resilience, security, performance, and long-term maintainability.
Improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, and secure development practices.
Work closely with product, engineering teams, and external partners to align technical decisions with business needs.
Provide tier-3 support for production systems and help resolve complex issues.
About You
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, architecture, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
At least 6 years of software development experience, including 4 or more years designing and developing enterprise Java applications with Spring.
Experience designing and maintaining scalable RESTful microservices and APIs, with strong knowledge of distributed systems and system design patterns.
Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure and cloud technologies such as containers (Kubernetes or ECS/Fargate), serverless services (Lambda), messaging (SQS or SNS), and Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation or Terraform).
Strong skills in database design, complex SQL, ORM and data access optimization.
Experience leading production-grade features from initial design through release, supported by automated testing.
Knowledge of secure development, security testing, and vulnerability resolution using tools such as Snyk or Qualys.
A practical approach to CI/CD, DevOps, performance tuning, and proactive monitoring.
Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor engineers and explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
