Data & AI Course Instructor (Freelance)

Witle Academy is a Johannesburg-based data and AI education company. We're building out our e-learning platform with courses taught by people who've done the work in real industries, not just in theory.
As a freelance Course Instructor, you'll design and record a course in your area of expertise, drawing on real problems you've solved in your industry. You'll work with our team, who will help with course structure, editing and publishing, so you can focus on teaching what you know.
Success in this role means learners finish your course able to apply data and AI skills the way they're actually used at work. That means clear explanations, practical examples and realistic case studies.
This role is flexible and remote , and can be done alongside your current job.
Responsibilities
Propose a course topic and outline based on your industry and technical experience, and refine it with the Witle Academy team
Record clear, well-paced video lessons that explain concepts and walk through practical demonstrations
Build real-world case studies and examples from your industry, using anonymised or public data
Prepare supporting materials such as datasets, exercises, slides and project briefs so learners can practise alongside each lesson
Review edited lessons for accuracy before they go live
Update course content when tools or industry practices change
Qualifications
At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience in data analytics, data science, data engineering or AI engineering
Experience applying these skills in an industry such as finance and banking, auditing and risk, logistics and supply chain, HR, marketing, insurance, retail, healthcare, mining and energy, or telecommunications
Strong working knowledge of relevant tools (e.g. Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, cloud data platforms)
Ability to explain technical concepts simply to beginners and intermediate learners
Comfortable presenting on camera, with access to a decent microphone and webcam
Teaching, mentoring, training or content creation experience is a plus, but not required
