Job Summary:
The Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking a behavioral health clinician that would also serve as the Director of Integrated Behavioral Health. This position would hold .50 - .80 FTE as a Behavioral Health Clinician (LCSW, LPC, or Psychologist), as well as .20 FTE as the Director of Integrated Behavioral Health.
As a clinician, this role would be responsible for brief, evidence-based psychotherapies and supportive counseling to a select primary care clinic population via telehealth. This position will provide short-term psychotherapy across the continuum of care, including identifying eligible patients based on defined criteria, providing psychosocial assessment, developing and executing treatment in alliance with patient’s goals, and ultimately ending care with a firm discharge plan in place. This role will additionally be responsible for providing crisis support to clinic patients identified as needing urgent behavioral health needs and ensuring they are provided with and/or connected to the next appropriate level of care. This position will work in collaboration with the behavioral health team as well as the primary care clinic’s multidisciplinary team including the patient’s primary care provider and clinic leadership.
In addition, the leadership position of Director of Integrated Behavioral Health for the Division will work closely with GIM leadership, clinic medical directors, operational teams, and institutional partners. The Director of Integrated Behavioral Health leads the design, implementation and on-going refinement of the integrated behavioral health program embedded within four General Internal Medicine primary care clinics. The director provides clinical and operational leadership to a team of behavioral health clinicians and coordinators who provide direct patient care in accordance with their roles. This role is accountable for clinical quality, access and program performance, with a focus on delivering brief, evidenced-based interventions within a fast-paced primary care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Behavioral Health Clinician
Work collaboratively with practice stakeholders to deliver integrated behavioral health services in a telehealth modality.
Provide short-term behavioral health treatment to targeted groups of patients; developing comprehensive initial assessments, treatment and discharge plans.
Refer patients to higher level of care (e.g. specialty treatment) -or community long term care - as appropriate.
Coordinate and revise treatment plan with input from interdisciplinary team and primary care provider.
Provide routine patient progress monitoring.
Support the management of patient referrals, including coordinating care for those patients not meeting criteria for clinic based behavioral health services.
Support clinic in developing community and campus referral sources as needed.
Work collaboratively with clinic staff to ensure efficient scheduling and placement of referrals.
Director of Integrated Behavioral Health
Leads the vision, development, and continuous improvement of integrated behavioral health services across all primary care sites. Demonstrates a practical, solution-oriented approach to refining and sustaining the integrated behavioral health program.
Establish clinical standards, workflows, and best practices that support patients’ behavioral health goals, focusing on collaborative care geared towards patients’ self-defined treatment goals.
Partners with primary care leadership as well as other health system leadership, to align behavioral health strategy with organizational goals, population health priorities, and value-based care initiatives.
Provide direction, clinical supervision, consultation, and mentorship to licensed behavioral health providers (e.g., LCSWs, psychologists, behavioral health consultants) and coordinators.
Oversee day-to-day operations, manage provider schedules, and clinic coverage to ensure timely access to behavioral health services.
Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case reviews, and care coordination activities.
Oversee quality improvement initiatives related to behavioral health screening, access, treatment engagement, and clinical outcomes.

Remote – This role is eligible to work remotely, but the employee must be in the United States.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE (based on 1.0 FTE):

Instructor: $100,000 – $110,000
Senior Instructor: $100,000 – $110,000
Assistant Professor: $95,256 – $110,000
Associate Professor: $130,000 – $145,000
Professor: $180,000 – $200,000
LPC or LCSW
Instructor: $70,000 – $85,000
Senior Instructor: $70,000 – $85,000
Assistant Professor: $95,256 – $110,000
Associate Professor: $112,260 – $125,000
Professor: $141,888 – $170,000
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
